you mean there aren't starving children in China that would kill for the green beans I didn't eat?

I'm not surprised, due to the combination of how Chinese lives have improved and how American lives haven't.

it's funny that americans got life improvements because the american gov't was worried that the chinese success with mortality, birth, literacy, and housing rates increased so dramatically and now the american gov't doesn't care anymore.

It was more Soviet than Chinese, but I agree with the sentiment.

yes it was; i meant to say communists instead of chinese, but it still works and especially so today.

It also explains why European social safety nets have eroded over the last 35 years despite populations that are more productive than ever.

i wonder how the europeans will react and i hope it's not like the americans.

what i mean by that is americans have repeatedly been shown that neoliberal policies have repeatedly eaten away at the already meager social safety nets of the united states, yet americans continue to double down on the political duopoly that created the neoliberal policies nonetheless.

mexicans, on the other other hand, also got see how neoliberal policies were fucking them over but they collectively abandoned their political duopoly and that's why shienbuam and the morena came into existence and why they are in charge. (at least for now until the united states invades to reverse this sort of social progress.... again).

the europeans, mexicans, and americans all technically have multiple parties; but in all systems only two parties are ever outright winners of their respective systems and the americans are only unique in that it's more liberal party (aka the democrats) use the legal system to ban other parties.

i wonder how the europeans will react and i hope it’s not like the americans.

Maybe Europeans can chime in why leftist parties never seem to achieve political power, leaving fascists the only ones presenting an alternative to the system that's eroding before everyone's eyes.

it's not an accident. the united states fostered compatible leftist groups immediately after world war 2 to prevent europeans governments and people from going communist in a similar way to how the united states fostered pro-fascists groups in the global south to keep the global south from going communist as well.

Considering how many voted for Trump, I don't exactly trust the thinking of the younger generations at this point.

Man i thought i only saw these dogshit opinions on boomer socials.

The younger generation isn't voting at all, because they refuse to accept "the lesser of 2 evils" as a viable path to future progress.

The only people with critical thinking issues here is you 2.

Have you seen the report suggesting that 40% of genz men believe women should be subservient to their man in all ways?

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment.

Edit: I made a mistake, it's that 40% of young men believe women lie about domestic violence and rape. So that's much better, obviously.

Link the report. How was the query worded to give an informed answer.

What was the demographic of the people questioned?

What was the size of the test pool?

Heres one, not 40% but 31%, daily mail is 33%.

    Who has the correct number?

    GLOBAL study of 23,000 lol

Is every news outlet except fox fake news to you?

    Own any red hats?

Your issue is you don't know how assessments work or what the requirements are to make it accurate.

Go back to fuckbook, less scruitiny there.

Ah, I see — so let me get this straight.

You try to call in to question the report I'm mentioning which, congratulations you found the one I'm referencing. Then claim it's inaccurate*, then claim I must only believe in Fox News and am probably conservative?

And you're telling me that you're able to judge others ability to critically think? Captain Assumption is lecturing me?

Reddit misses your engagement, also scrutiny doesn't have two i's.

    Your claim: 40%

The articles claim i referenced that you say is the same you got the number from: 31%

I didn't say it was fake, i said there were other articles that claim it's 33% None of the numbers i saw were 40. Did you intentionally inflate the number, ignoring the laughably micro survey pool

In a GLOBAL (8 billion) survey, 23,000 isn't a fair representation of 4 billion men.

What i am saying is that survey is propaganda, and you are pathetic in engaging in the spread of it.

Correct! Edit: Actually, the other post didn't misrepresent them! I switched the number from a different post, one that states 40% of young men believe women lie about reports of domestic violence. So, not misrepresented by them — simply a mistake by me. You can add this datapoint to the list of datapoints I've already provided.

Now, do you have separate reasonings for the popularity of men like Trump, Nick Fuentes, Charlie Kirk, Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, or any of the other disgusting 'thought leaders' that influence many young men today? What about red pillers? Black pillers? What are your explanations for those things?

I don't have the patience to hunt down every data point because I don't need this to confirm what I already know — something is very wrong with an unsettlingly large number of men. Oh there are plenty of reasons why there are things wrong with them, many of them quite tragic — does that change reality? No, now go cool off.

They’ll be disappointed to learn that China’s just as bad as the US, in some similar and some different ways.

  • source

But also markedly better in many. I've worked in Changsha on and off for the last decade, and I'd move there to live in a heartbeat. The modern US I wouldn't touch with a hundred foot pole.

That's subjective of course - but, while I don't know what you're taught in the US (it's actually exciting to learn that you still have schools, I thought they'd all been converted into gun ranges) about China, that some people are clueing up to the reality being different is an objectively good thing - even if it's not all sunshine and roses in Xi's world either.

Propaganda. They’ve never been there, so hearing about it is just illusion.

And before your ML panties get in a twist, fuck the USA, China, Russia, UK, (most of) Europe, and basically every other capitalist country (yes, China is capitalist).

This reads like a paid ad (the irony!). I'm sure spending 70% of their free time on TikTok algos has some niche corner of the internet "Chinamaxxing", and turning off the constant dopamine stream made people upset, but the reasoning in the article seems dodgey at best.

I personally don't see issues of authoritarianism and censorship and go "woawww, a society that has that baked in is so much better"

Funny fucking hat though, I just might have to pick one up

Old Americans aren't buying these old narratives either. Turns out that the US government being so openly corrupt has real consequences.

I lived there and found it was pretty neutral on that stuff. I'd bet it's hard to join the party as an openly gay person, but the government doesn't have any explicitly anti-gay policies, nor is it a topic of controversy the way it can be in the US

From what I understand there sadly has been a more conservative shift from the government in recent years. I don't think there are any openly discriminatory laws, but LGBT media is being censored, dating apps are removed from appstores, etc. I feel like it's another case of severe overreaction to a threat of "western influence", similar to Xinjang.

Way way back in the day, I wrote a graduate symposium paper on why China was going to become a global power. I was right, and in my presentation at a hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea (so posh...) I stated that many younger people weren't viewing China as any worse than the US. Some were viewing China as the lesser of two evils in a world plagued by, for lack of a better term, oligarchical bull shit.

No nation at the top of the world stage is great, but when you look at thing amorally, China is beating out other countries in a number of places right now, the seeds of which were sown 15 years ago. These include infrastructure, renewable energy spending, mass production of higher (note I said higher, not high) quality consumer goods (cars and battery tech came out on top), education, and well-being for the population. Yes, you can double take, but China has actually invested pretty heavily in healthcare outcomes and population well-being in a way that makes places like the US or UK look laughable because I include transportation infrastructure in that measurement. I'll have an aside below you may find interesting...

On the flip side, today's younger people don't know about the violence of the 1980s and 1990s. China's invasion of Vietnam. The abhorrent human rights abuses then, and the abhorrent human rights abuses of now. The now is important because, China is socially engineering it's population and using very hard engineering via a party approved justice system to ensure China is what the CCP and Xi want. But they don't see it. They see Epstein, Putin, endless wars, inflation, christo-fascism, and a stable and non-confrontational China.

So I get it. And, as RejZor said, Tsingtao beer is pretty good when you compare it to the other "national" brands.

Aside: There's a story from a British journalist I can't find, but is burned into my memory. I think it's from Ken Burns' The West. He observed the Americans built the state capitol of Montana way off in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Might have been a city hall, but whatever. The Americans said the city would grow over to it, and they were looking ahead. That's what China is doing now with their high speed rail, highways, and solar projects. They are building for tomorrow. That's huge and people who are living in a world of potholes, education cuts, and rising prices see that and say, "Hey, they're doing some good shit over there."

To be fair the (real and sometimes horrifying) human rights abuses of modern-day China kinda pale in comparison to what the US is doing (and has been doing since its founding), so I think on balance it's good that more people support it over the imperialist hegemon.

This is an important point. But I'd also like to convey that the abuses that are there are not broadcast the way they are in the US. So there's also a thick fog of obscurity that hides the problems in the PRC. The PRC is repressive, especially to minority groups, but there's a consistency and predictability to it that is not there in the US. A rule of law if you will. I am not condoning that, it is awful, but they plan, pass, and rule predictably with a long term agenda. That is not the case with the repression in the US where the violence has an agenda, but comes and goes without the same degree of process. If I were to distill it, I'd say that PRC is procedural, prioritizing national unity and party loyalty. The US is haphazard, prioritizing cruelty and personal fealty.

Lesser of two evils perhaps? A moralist can discuss that, not I.

I have three kids from 20-8 years old. US jobs don’t pay enough for my kids to care about your needs. They are too busy trying survive in a society that wants them dead or enslaved… and they’re a lot smarter than you give them credit for. Just because they don’t want to be puppets of the giant corps killing the world, doesn’t mean they are lazy or idiots. Depressed? Hopeless? Isolated? Maybe, probably.

Making general statements about all American kids is the definition of lazy and idiotic. Don’t fall for the class/age war the leaders of societies promote to keep us fighting each other.

If you have kids and they’re lazy idiots, I don’t know what to say. You raised them.

    Absolutely wild...

Reminds me more of the idiots moving to Russia due to propaganda, and then being shocked when they're sent to the front lines in Ukraine for the meat grinder.

America fucking sucks right now, but China is still one of a handful of worse governments.

It's like breaking up with an abusive partner, smart move, but then going out with Chris Brown.

People are just scrambling and desperate for anything different, so they're not properly evaluating their next landing spot.

Have you been to China? I have, and am headed back in a month. I cannot describe the difference in stress living in a city where public transit costs 40 cents, good food is like 2 bucks, and rent is a fifth of what I paid in the US.

China has it's issues, but it's simple ignorance to claim it's anything like Russia or America.
