That's a weird way for a station to react.

Almost like they don't actually wanna talk about real problems.

I used to have this NYT lifestyle reporter in my Facebook and they were constantly posting hyper-specific quote requests. “If you are a bartender who has seen more business from upscale clientele since Covid ended and think this is because affluent people have less empathy, I’d like to interview you for an upcoming article!”

It’s fucking embarrassing how the News already knows exactly what they want to say before they even go to people, and they just want people to repeat their line like a good little drone and then go away. And most people will for the mere chance to have their face or name in the news.

She visibly flinches when he mentions private equity. Its like the news station has repeat training classes for employees on banned topics.

He gets every award out there. This is amazing.

    Private equity:

    • Rental buildings are bought by these companies and filled (or not) for Air BNB, luxury housing, etc. This leaves no affordable housing.
    • They price fix the shit out of these locations through rental software.
    • Prices rarely go down, and if they do, it's not much.
    • They push for a building frenzy so they can park their money and rent out the bottom floor. Doesn't matter if some homes are empty if the price doesn't go down and you're price fixing.
    • Won't let you work from home because it fucks with all of the above.
    • Only beholden to the people who are in the club, they can do what they want with no repercussions.

I love when they do this because it saves us the effort of determining legitimacy. It shows how they really feel. It removes the pomp and circumstance of pretending to be real news. But I’m done reiterating my point 3 times. We have the fake news our orange pedophile always wanted. His only success.

I don’t have any skin in this fight, and the dude is totally right…. But I’d bet a few bucks that the reporter was moving on from the voxpop because the two of them would have probably had a quick chat before the live cross to gauge his ability to be succinct and hold an opinion, and it could have started to go in a direction that may have thrown her. I would also take a guess that she probably felt that he was going to go waaaay of script and say something that could put the network in hot water. Fuck her in the pussy, Trump is a pedo. I like turtles…. There’s a bit of risk management for a live cross that she would have been mindful of.

    But then again… who knows?

Can't let people say the truth, it would inconvenience your masters.

The news reporter wanted a feel good puff piece regardless of how inappropriate it is. The interviewee wanted to report the actual news.

The company that owns that NBC affiliate wanted a feel good puff piece. I doubt she had a say in the matter.

Was it live? Probably not. That means they left it in on purpose.

Yes. But if they aired it, they aired it on purpose. Clips like that are rarely actually live. So they made a show of not continuing to give him airtime, but they gave him enough to get his message out - twice.

It really makes you wonder how these reporters are trained. What else can they not talk about on air?

She was trying to do a fluff piece interview, and he was trying to drop hard facts. I'm glad he didn't back down on his points.

Haven't watched it but sounds like someone with strong convictions and an idea why things are the way they are. Hopefully eventually enough people recognize the fact that we need a functional society that allows the random person to feel comfortable. Cause if you get enough itchy people things get scratched.

30 seconds of sound when you're pooping on the toilet at work, is 30 seconds too much sound. Hypothetically speaking.

Pretty much I don't care for random audio, I prefer text articles or comments to get the jist of things. I actually hate noise unless it's for entertainment or another person (well sometimes I don't care for that but polite society and all).

A 30 second video would be a nice short article.

They better never interview me on live TV. Ill be asking the reporter where they will be hiding when the revolution comes.

She knows exactly what she is doing. She probably wouldn't even get into any trouble if she had let the guy go on for a bit since it is just a random, live interview. Doesn't matter, though, as boot-fellating, spittle-licking toadies will instantly and hungrily provide cover for the owner class. There will always be a critical mass of just about every demographic (even those you would not expect it from) who will be willing to sell out for that payday. If she doesn't try to silence or steamroll any even remotely anti-greed rhetoric she might be passed over for that next promotion.

As unhinged as social media gets, this is pretty much why so many end up trusting it over traditional media. The internet broke the veil of commercial reporting/journalism - media in general. Broke the trust on accepting public personas and not being suspicious of them behind the scenes. Sell out reporters/journalist/artists/etc are like scabs to labor strikers

If the fediverse can focus on integrating content from from other fediverse sources extremely organically, the fediverse will win. I shouldn't have to leave Lemmy to watch this video.

Woah, I've been on Eternity for quite a while and have heard about Jerboa a bunch in comments! Finally downloaded it based on this comment and sure enough, this video was the first thing in my feed and it even auto played silently on the thumbnail! (Turning that off immediately though lol)

Did you have to leave on .world? I didn't have to on my instance, but I don't know exactly how all that works.

In this case I'd say it's especially good for the sake of loops rather than lemmy. Loops is quite a small platform, and looking at it now, this post has 23 likes and 2 comments. But two posts I've seen on lemmy, totaling ~800 upvotes and ~45 comments.

Seems like pulling that info into loops would make it all feel much more lively, though I'm sure this isn't insight to the already busy loops creator!

They probably did, but decided to pick the side of the billionaire class/got told by their owners (the billionaire class) that they were to pick the side of the billionaire class in order to facilitate the continued exploitation of ordinary people
