President Donald Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday night that the United States is “going to start now hitting land” in its fight against drug cartels—framing the move as a response to what he claimed is cartel control of Mexico and a U.S. death toll in the “250,000–300,000” range every year.

This is the most peace I’ve seen from any president, ever! There is so much peacing going on, I’m peaced out! How can one man throw around so much peace? It’s amazing! It must be his internal moral code that makes the peace just flow right out of him!

He's gotta invade these countries to acquire the rare earth metals needed to create his peace prizes.

Trump and Hegseth have no clue what they are getting into. Cartels dont follow rules.

They will cut military personel into pieces, and hang the pieces from lamp posts in Juarez.

Nah. The world is gonna just gonna wall you in with the Nazis. If this keeps escalating then countries will refuse to accept Americans into their countries, refuse American business, refuse American culture and so on. Eventually you will be stuck in the cesspool you created (don't mean you specifically BTW, just Americans in general).

Perhaps he should just kinda ... go there. Meet with the heads of the cartels personally. Have an informal dialogue. Just him, and Vance, and Hegseth, and Noem ...

Venezuela, Nigeria, Somalia, Mexico, Iran, Cuba, Colombia, Greenland, Panama, Canada... It's getting hard to keep track of the list of countries the USA is actively attacking or threatening to attack.

As a Mexican, let him do it. Our government speaks proudly of sovereignty while the mafia rules vast swats of the territory with their complicity. A country can’t be sovereign if citizens are ruled by criminals instead of the law.

Seriously, in 2025 about 300,000 people have gone missing, it’s your guess how many of them are buried in clandestine dumps. This has to stop somehow, and the mafia certainly fears Trump more than any Mexican president ever.

It's going to be like when the US was assassinating random Venezuelan fishermen. They're going to kill maybe one or two drug dealers, but mostly they'll just kill randomly across Mexico and then lie afterwards to claim they were cartels.

They don't care about killing actual cartel members, they just love to kill.

You think Trump gives two fucks about that? You think he cares about all those people? You think he wouldn't happily have murdered them as well? Don't be naive here.

Did I say that? I said he should actually follow through and fight the cartels and the colluded government, for his own selfish reasons. I think any great disruption of the deeply corrupt unholy marriage of government and mafia would be a net gain for us Mexicans.

Why would I want nazis to be my friends? I just want them to murder some mafia heads. Any disruption to the status quo would be a gain for us, seeing how efficient their operation had become. You can’t even buy lemons or avocado without financing the cartels.

The thing with Trump is that he has no reason to want to kill the heads of organised crime. He benefits from cartel violence because it helps him to rhetorically justify US imperialism, so he has no reason to eradicate them.

If the US invades Mexico, the cartels will scatter like cockroaches to take shelter from the action, and then in the aftermath, they will leverage their efficient organisational infrastructure to cement their power even further. If the US invades Mexico, there is no way that this ends well for the Mexican people.

To Trump and his ilk, you look the same as any cartel member — except you're a lot easier to kill.

So you'd rather our criminal president pillage your country?

I find no solace in letting the legitimate president plunder the country. Seriously, if Trump is going to wreck us, do it while our government and democracy is still somehow functional.
