So why shouldn't the protesters shoot to kill as well?

I mean, saying this is only going to escalate the situation and increase the tension.

What if the protestors say back in return: “If you point a gun at one of us protestors, your coworkers will be notifying your family where to collect your remains”?

The dude is just asking for a fight.

The whole thing hangs off the rule of law. There aren’t enough cops to control the population, it only works because the population controls itself because they accept the rule of law. If the cops go rogue or the politicians, eventually the belief in the rule falters then chaos.

There it is. Law enforcement has openly declared to kill protesters. You now know that you must fight them like your life depends on it, because they have admitted their intent.

This is exactly the behavior your 2nd amendment rights are meant to protect you from. They are ready & excited to kill you. What are you willing to do to stop them?

I hope the reply from protestors is...

    We will kill you

If you forget that you are public servants, and you ignore our Constitutional rights, then you have no authority under that same Constitution.

If you hit one of us, then we are going to hit back, and we outnumber you 50-1. If you let the dogs loose on us, then we will kill the dogs, and the officer that looses them, as this is a lethal action with the intent of bodily harm.

If you gas us, or shoot us with "less lethal" weapons, then we will defend ourselves with as much force as necessary. We are exercising our rights as citizens, you are public servants with the express purpose of protecting citizens and upholding our rights. Police authority is written on the back of the social contract that enshrines our rights. You can't rip up one without ripping up the other.

See you motheruckers on the street.

PS. Every protestor there ought to show up with an open carry, preferably a longarm.

Check your local laws before you open carry. Many cities have outlawed open carry. I'm not even allowed to have a baseball bat in San Diego.

Because you'll be the only one carrying, so they will just arrest you on sight for breaking the law. You have to be thoughtful, they don't.

You need a critical mass to do that, which we don't have quite yet.

Also if we get a critical mass, then the NG and Marines get deployed.

For about 30 seconds till they shoot you first for breaking local statutes.

They don't have to think about their actions, theirs are protected. You have to think about yours. Without outnumbering them 10 to 1, then you're just throwing away both those rights, and your life. Best case you end up a felon with no 2nd amendment rights. Worst case you end up dead.

I can appreciate and agree with this to some extent, but the entire point of this is to provoke exactly that reaction so that they can justify the horrors they want to carry out.

I can't think of a counter except to be willing to be the first side shot. then clear out, then the NEXT day return armed. Put that space in there, a clear timeline of how the violence started, who started it, something of record. THEN you come back.

Profoundly stupid for this fool to show his face on camera while openly threatening to kill American citizens.

But he's a Trump supporter, so being profoundly stupid is par for the course.

If things actually did pop off in this country, anyone that has shown their face on camera in opposition to the American people will not be safe.

Firebombs and firearms are lethal weapons. There has always been self defense claims available in those situations regardless of their previous statements. If you state "I will shoot anyone who shoots at me" you don't lose your ability to claim self defense.

Police violence is a massive problem in America but the actual statement aligns with literally every single American's right to self defense in those specific situations.

Im not apologizing for fascism and your claim is obviously incorrect.

Your example does not read the same as this post, which sounds much closer to a threat. Yes, you are defending fascist rhetoric because police officers with power to kill protesters are not like other citizens. This is a disgusting apologia.

Read the last part of the quotes. The sheriff literally states that if you throw a brick, throw a firebomb or point a gun at you then they will kill you.

Im not sure if thrown bricks can kill so I left it out but setting people on fire and guns obviously can and almost certainly meet the rules by which the police can shoot at you (as well as others in CA but Im less certain of that).

Again this isn't apologia. You either have not read the quotes or you aren't thinking that you would have the same rights to self defense in those situations.

This is a violent dog and pony show for the micro penis burger king. The cops esuculate the situation every single time...have you ever been to a protest? Go touch some grass and stop licking boots. Rationalizing the unreasonable is like fucking for virginity. What are you 90 years old...so out of touch. I have been protesting for various causes for decades.

Engaging with police using lethal force is not going to endear anyone to the anti-government cause that desperately needs more people involved.

Your stances are admirable and I understand your sentiment but they are relics of a past you were privileged to live in for those decades (others didn't share that experience and have been going through this without national attention). Your reality has now shifted and I hope that you'll be able to come to terms with those changes and not regress into authoritarian sympathies like your relatives thinking "if only they could do it peacefully".

Enough people have pointed out the flaw in the "self-defense" scenarios you're imagining, I don't believe you will come around to those without heavy education/exposure on past & current events involving police interaction and constitutional rights (there are a lot of good resources and public "auditors" online you should seek out). I will just point out the slippery slope that exists with the Sheriffs statements, "What is a brick?" - at what point does a brick become a rock/pebble or vice versa? "What is a firebomb?" - if any incendiary device is considered lethal, do firecrackers or sparklers count since it ignites?

An officer in full tactical/riot gear getting hit with a brick isn't lethal, yet a "non-lethal" firearm can kill from a shot in the face or beanbag to the chest in close range. Teargas can cause a fatal reaction if not treated in time. The "law-enforcement" in this instance have decided due-process (once again) isn't necessary and will pass judgement on your actions while punishing you with state-sponsored violence and/or death.

The lines have already been drawn, "People that want to protest will be met with big force... this is people that hate our country. They will be met with heavy force." -Trump

People have already decided on their stance, the various and numerous polls show basically the same support that Trump was elected with. Their goal is to silence the 30-50% that heavily oppose and demonize them in the eye of public opinion. It's an effective campaign. Trump supporters who still follow want the chaos and clap-down of rights to "protect them" from their perceived threats. The neutral parties just want to be left alone in their comfort and don't want to be imposed upon (these are the same neutral parties like in Nazi Germany) and will take any excuse to condemn "violent protestors" whether it's factual or actually representative of the movement as a whole. There will be no "reconciliation" or changing of people's minds till the fascists come directly for them and effect negative outcomes in their lives (just like they condemn peaceful protests because they're in a street).

Well, you heard it here. It's perfectly fine to shoot cops with AR-15s if they shoot you with rubber bullets. If they can kill you for tossing a brick, you can kill them for shooting people unprovoked with "less lethal" munitions. Those rubber bullets are just as dangerous as bricks, and the cops are shooting them with impunity. By their own logic, any officer that shoots a rubber bullet at someone deserves to have their head blown off.

You guys already know they’ll order the police in to harass protesters, intentionally escalate to violence, then piss themselves and call in the national guard when they can’t handle it anymore

I think Florida has open carry laws right?

  • source
  • [–] 71 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I'm not sure what the intended effect of this statement is... But what I can tell you, is that bringing firearms to Florida protest seems to be mandatory. The police should be shot on sight during an escalation. Because if you don't, they are gonna use any excuse to do the same to us. The rule of law only works if we can all agree to not murder each other.

Open carry rifles is probably the best way to keep the cops from escalating. If any group is planning on having open carry members, make sure they aren't plants and make sure they know proper trigger discipline. Make sure that no media sees them taking aim first or idly fingering the trigger. Do not have them in the middle of the group. Make sure that they are prepped to answer any questions clearly and directly to any press.

slight difference in de-escalation training though. Our police has years of civil-work-courses before they are allowed on the streets. Also gun culture is night and day, cops here dont feel urged to use lethal force, because criminals most of the times are unarmed here

I've seen videos of German police treating your protestors the same way US cops treat us. The only cops I've seen that seem to genuinely fear the people are the French, and as an American I understand being terrified of the French.
