After months of dealing with bogus reckless driving charges, jail, impound fees, and the Seattle Police Department holding onto my seized GoPro, the charges have finally been dismissed with prejudice... but more importantly, I have my camera back.

I spent the last 5 months investigating my interaction with SPD on Mayday 2026, guided by official public records, bodycam evidence, and the legal brief written by my public defender. I'll present the facts uncovered through that investigation, deconstruct how targeted, retaliatory policing led to my arrest, expose the documented histories of the specific officers involved, and reveal the internal city emails proving they knew there was no crime to charge me with in the first place.

On Monday, the office of the Mississippi attorney general, Lynn Fitch, announced that the police shooting of Kohen Wiley, a one-year-old, as he sat in his mother’s lap “was justified”. The statement came four months after the baby was killed in Senatobia, Mississippi.

On 14 June, officers in Senatobia, a small city near Memphis, were responding to a shoplifting call alleging Vellesiya Wiley, the baby’s mother, and Latoya Ferrell, a friend, had stolen a pack of diapers. Neither woman has been charged with a crime. Officials have not released any evidence of shoplifting.

According to police reports, on the day of the shooting, the women and child exited the store, entered their vehicle and began to leave the parking lot when officers arrived.

The police drew their weapons. Wiley lifted the baby up to indicate that there was a child in the car. An officer, identified by other records as Sgt Hunter Foster, fired into the vehicle, killing Kohen Wiley and wounding Ferrell. Foster is white; both Wileys and Ferrell are Black.

But while law enforcement groups across the state add drones to their tool kits — including in Bellingham and Everett — the Seattle Police Department says it has no plans to do the same.

This is because of the city’s surveillance ordinance, said department spokesperson Sgt. Patrick Michaud. Approved in 2017, a law says Seattle agencies need the City Council’s permission to adopt new technology that can record its surroundings — a process that takes months.

Yet drones still fly in the city. Instead of getting their own, Seattle police have been relying on King County’s fleet.

The day after Officer Daniel Valencia and three other Spokane police officers shot and killed a man as he fled into his apartment, he texted one of the others, Officer Matthew Stewart. In the texts, the two strategized: They needed a shared story about why they shot Joshua Musselman to death on December 29, 2024.

They gamed it out.

“So what’s the crime we were investigating yesterday?” Valencia wrote to Stewart. “Unlawful discharge? Haha.”

“Hahahahahahaha,” Stewart replied. “Being a douche lol.”

Each officer involved — Valencia, Stewart, Garth Craigen and Will Mitchell — would have to write a report about their actions and what they saw that day, so it was important their stories matched. As members of one of the deadliest police agencies in the US, which had just gotten a new boss in the form of Chief Kevin Hall — who was then working hard to restore community faith in the department — the snipers needed to make it clear they had a good reason for killing Musselman.

“Right,” Valencia replied. “But for reals. For the report. What’s the crime at that point? Unlawful discharge or are we doing a welfare check? Lol. Cuz no one developed pc. Huh? Lol.”

Stewart: “I would say unlawful discharge at this point.”

“Pc” refers to probable cause, a legal standard established in the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution requiring law enforcement officers to have a strong rationale to make an arrest, search a property or seek a warrant.

But Stewart’s texts dispute the idea that Musselman was getting ready to shoot. Stewart wrote in one of his messages sent a week after the shooting that Musselman was running “so it’s a moving target at 40 yards. Not the best.” He told Valencia this to console him because, Valencia texted, he was “really pissed off … that the two of us shot 10 rounds each and the fucker only got shot four times.”

The messages in which Valencia and Stewart strategized their reports were part of a longer string of texts that started one hour and 14 minutes after they’d killed Musselman. They were filed by Rondi Thorp, the attorney for Musselman’s family, which is suing the Spokane Police Department for the killing.

“Glad to have you next to me on a gun battle,” Valencia texted the day of the shooting, even though the officers had Musselman — who never fired his airsoft rifle while police were on the scene — dramatically outgunned with their AR-15 assault rifles. “Fuck yeah brotha. Felt a lot better when you came with me.”

Stewart: “Thanks homie. I’m glad you were there too! Makes me feel better.”

He told Stewart that the shooting had made them “Brothas for life now dogg,” according to the texts. “We’ll have to meet up and get a couple of beers now.”

Stewart described the damage the shots did to Musselman. “At least one hit him in the chest, on in the pelvic girdle, and one in the shin. There were probably more but he was all bloody.”

“I’m hoping that we hit him at least once each lol,” Valencia replied.

Local and state agencies are counting on the federal government to cover the cost of extra police, but it’s not guaranteed.

13-year old boy killed riding ebike in Menifee Monday, collateral damage in a police chase for a non-violent property crime

Multiple sources are reporting that police in Menifee responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 27000 block of Hemingway Court around 4:54 pm Monday.

A car driven by a woman believed to be involved in the burglary was seen leaving the area, and fled when the cops attempted to pull her over.

The driver was headed west on Holland Road at a high rate of speed when she ran the red light at Holland and Evans Road, striking the boy, who was riding north on Evans Road.

The victim, identified as 13-year-old Menifee resident Cody Villatoro, died at the scene, despite the efforts of police and paramedics.

The driver continued to flee until her car became disabled, at which point police arrested the woman, 21-year old Temecula resident Melody Valdez, on suspicion of evading police and homicide, among other charges.

So let’s repeat. Villatoro was riding with the green light, and apparently did nothing wrong other than share the planet with a driver wanted by police for a nonviolent property crime. But now he’s dead, because of a driver’s bad decision to flee and the cops’ choice to continue the chase.

An ex-police sergeant who asked to share a female suspect's sex video with "the lads from footy" has been jailed for four years.

Former Cambridgeshire Police officer Paul Street, 41, engaged in "salacious gossip" with former PC Josh Williams after he found intimate pictures and footage on the woman's personal phone.

The Old Bailey heard how Street, of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, created a "toxic" WhatsApp culture at work. He was found guilty of two charges of misconduct in a public office.
