A very simple yet powerful intrusive thought.

Ever rolled paint on a wall with old paint and a linty roller? I have, and spent months running my hand on the wall and then picking at the tiny bumps in the paint. It became a habit, borderline compulsion.

Fast forward, invited to friends' new house for Thanksgiving. Guess they had the same shitty paint job. Proud owner of new house confronts me as I'm absentmindedly picking tiny chunks of paint off his wall.

I'm an asshole, but I'd do it again.

I have a dumb question, if a couch is peeling like this, does that mean it wasn't really leather?

Yes, that panel appears to be vinyl. Some couches are sold as leather everywhere your body touches (armrest, back, and seat). They don't expect you to touch any other part of it, lol. Just avoid vinyl furniture.
