That's nice, but it won't change anything for our boycotts, becasue the boycotts were never about the tariffs.

Fix your fascist problem, enforce the existing laws that those bastards have been ignoring and make it so they can't regain control, then we can talk.

If they put and end to them now, the u.s/world economy will improve, he will take credit and the stupid ass voters will vote MAGA in again.

Carney would be a fool to try another trade deal with that fascist wreck of a country.

Fewer tariffs on Canada! More beautiful tariffs on billionaires!

The Supreme Court had already rebuked him on this. However, the Republican Congress was too spineless to do their job and enforce it. Maybe the Democrats will, maybe the Democrats won't. I'm not placing any bets on it one way or the other.

"That's one of the reasons we won Congress back — because we're going to put an end to these tariffs," Raskin said.

"Congress controls taxes and tariffs under the Constitution. Congress regulates commerce internationally and domestically. And so we're gonna do everything in our power to make it very clear that we have not imposed 50 per cent tariffs on our democratic allies and friends in Canada."

I don't quite agree with that strategy, but I do think we need to keep buying less American and continue the somewhat cold shoulder for a long time. Lets not forget that this shit isn't new... here in BC we've been dealing with BS over softwood lumber for decades.

My boycott was never about the tariffs. It was about the threats to Canadian sovereignty.

    Sameee

I will continue to avoid US products & companies to the best of my ability for the remainder of my time on this planet.

They don't get to threaten my country & get away with it. They're dead to me.

By writing a letter in the strongest terms allowable under a spirit of bipartisan collaboration and a 150% boost to both thoughts and prayers?

    Okay.

As with all claims of this sort, I'll wait to see it.

We also need to consider that Democrats are already at 250+ seats by most estimates, with something like 30-ish races left. Democrats could be above 260 and pushing 270 by the time this is all done.

A veto override needs a 2/3 majority in both houses, and in the House that threshold is 290. Democrats would only have to peel away about 20 or 30 House votes for a veto override. In the Senate, with 54 seats they would need 13 to get to 67. They might get to 56 if both outstanding races go their way.

If enough Republicans determine the tariffs were part of the problem, Democrats might be able to find those votes, and not only reverse the tariffs, but prevent the President from imposing new ones, over his veto. It's not out of the question at all.
