I dont think they care
post
We (The US) flat out abandoned many of the people who helped us in Afghanistan. Packed up and walked out, mercilessly and selfishly leaving them for dead. The cherry on top of the giant hot shit sundae that was the "war on terror." This is an extra spritz of whipped cream.
I don't blame anyone who doesn't trust us when we've clearly demonstrated that being an "ally" of the United States is one sided and you will be dumped as soon as we no longer need you.
What a fucking disgrace.
Which would make their deportation logically tantamount to (being accessory to) murder.
Hell of a way to repay people who did you a massive favor at great risk to themselves.
It's a shame.
Many of these Afghan deportees helped us fight our stupid forever war that we shouldn't have been in to begin with, and they're going to be repaid with treachery and death. That sends a message to people who might be willing to help us internationally, and it's that we're a dishonorable people.
A concern for human lives isn't even within sight of the things that the Trump administration cares about.
Another reminder that America are no longer the good guys and just another despotic country that can't be trusted.
... no longer? Listen, I'm glad Trump is opening your eyes, but we've never been the good guys. "We did it, Patrick! We saved all of those countries from the burden of their own freely chosen governments and gave them ones that serves our interests instead! Yay!"
Another reminder that America are no longer the good guys
this has never been truth in any point in history
That's the point. Perhaps the media should focus on discouraging further assistance to the US because we don't keep promises or care about anyone.
Lesson learned: never work with the US. It's never worth it, especially in the long run.
I hadn't seen this story. I just hired a really good Afghan guy. I keep on hoping for good things since Afghans have been the only ones permitted refuge by this administration (other than white South Africans). He had lost his job earlier this year due to a work-permit issue that got resolved. He's been in the US for at least 5 years, but he was just able to bring his family (wife and kids) over here 2 years ago.
