govern

Oh, is that what they've been doing?

Let me guess: ignore Congress, let billionaires do whatever the fuck they want, rule by executive order, and hope that the other two branches of government don't grow a spine and do something about it. So, basically the same thing they've been doing all along?

Isn't that what they've been doing for the past two years?

Senior officials, including deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and budget director Russell Vought, have been working with the ‌White House Counsel's Office since April to identify executive actions on immigration, tariffs, housing costs and federal spending that Trump could pursue without congressional approval, said the three people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

How about we map a path to govern without a president instead?

If Republicans lose control of Congress, Trump said he expects he could issue vetoes for "a month or two" before reaching compromises with Democrats.

"I guess I'll become Mr. Veto," Trump told the New York Post's Pod Force One podcast in an interview excerpt released on Sunday. "And then at some point, we'll probably make deals."

Maybe it's time to cut back on the powers of the executive, both the veto power against the legislative and the pardon power against the judicial branch can't be justified in my opinion.

Same issue for the governors and state parliaments by the way.

Veto power is important, I'd hate to lose it even if it sucks. Pardons need some hard anti corruption protections and protection against pardoning of allies. At the same time though there have been a lot of pardons I really support from the nonviolent cannabis users to Chelsea Manning

I'm ok with pardons to some extent. I just have an issue with judicial acceptance of preemptive pardons which are immunities that can only be granted by legislation and that's ignoring actual immunities that also aren't particularly supported constitutionally.

    THAT'S A DICTATORSHIP

What do you mean "mapping a path". They're bypassing congress already. No mapping anything, just doing it.

Here’s their plan. Declare the midterms stolen before polls close, Ground invasion of Iran, possible nuclear strike, attempt to declare martial law, Trump announces 3rd term run, bully Supreme Court into letting Donny run a 3rd time, Donny dies of a stroke in April 2027, JD Vance all the way baby!

One could almost be mistaken and read this as: Democrats have had options every time they were in office, but instead cried and sucked their thumbs, soiling their diapers and claiming "we'd love to help you but the Republicans won't let us! We'd need the super duper ultra mega majority with cream filling in order to accomplish anything!"

Trump could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and there would be people blaming the Democrats.

This article is largely without substance. I don't see how it manages to even be "news". I genuinely had to double check if it was labelled "opinion". I expect better from Reuters. Nothing worth discussing here.

    A) why would they start governing after the Dems neuter them? All they've done so far is loot and pillage... B) They're not just losing congress. Good chance the house will flip, too.
