My nearby gas station has been out of fuel for 2 days. Another sign of collapse or just bad planning on their logistics ?

Outages are likely to be regional. I suspect more rural/out of the way regions will face outages, whereas cities and other regions with robust logistics networks will likely just face increased gas prices.

The ovservable effect for most citizens will likely not be fuel outages, but the knock-on effects (higher shipping prices and higher prices for virtually everything)

Sure, but don't you actually have other ways to get around?

Depends where you live but it's mostly in larger cities and connecting larger cities. If you live outside them, you still need one or two cars. Distances may be shorter though. I have 20 minutes to work but no option for public transport

I filled up yesterday in Dallas. Almost no line at Costco and below $4.

Judging by the comments, sounds like bad planning and logistics. I'm in Wyoming and we've never been out. Prices though...

Diesel\Heating Oil is worrisome because we need it and propane to survive winter emergencies
