Yeah, Lucifer Morningstar, he owns a club in Los Angeles and works as an LAPD consultant.

Actually, I am from Madrid in Spain , and we in Spain have a wide selection of children’s names: Lenin, Locomotive, Jesus, Ivan, Maria (for boy) . An uncle of mine wanted to name his little boy Lucifer, but it got refused by the civil servant!! We held a sit down protest in the village square, the mayor mediated between the parties. The little boy was then named after the King or the pope or some other dignitary. Ronaldo?

No, but I met a bloke called ZOLTAN! once. That's how he pronounced it, allcaps and exclamation mark.

Natas Kaupus is about the closest I've heard of.

Which turned out to be made-up, 80s, moral-panic, nonsense, because his Lithuanian name happened to be Satan spelled backwards.

Yeah i wonder why anyone would associate him with the devil. No clue at all.

He had some nice board graphics.

His original drawing for another deck the "Hanging Clansman" even made it to the Smithsonian collection. Perhaps there's a clue to who considered him to be anti-christian if there's any connection that way.

    Moral-panic was in '87, 101 started in '91.

I'd say he was leaning into the witch-hunt with this board. Although I haven't seen any of his earlier graphics.

Also, I'd skip boardslides for a couple of days with that new deck.

  • naw, a little more straight forward. part of the reason i was attracted to my spouse in the first place was her atheism... she seriously considered the name.

i love the idea of lucifer as a name as it seems to be one of the first to challenge the absolute idiocy that is the christian god

    fantastic

Hopefully no one hates their newborn child enough to name it that?

Lucifer was originally the name for the planet, Venus, in Roman mythology. That’s where “morning star”’ comes from. Because it’s visible just before or just after (as Noctifer) the sun rises and falls.

Early translaters used it for the name of the “Shinging one” in Isaiah.

Not everyone associates the name with a demon… that’s mostly christians and Christian off shoots.

So no, not everyone is the same as you enough to avoid naming their kid something you think is alway bad.

Lucifer killed zero people in the Bible. Compare that to Yahweh's genocidal body count.

The serpent never even told Eve to eat the fruit, just that she could (by the way, the fruit of a tree an appearantly all-knowing god put in front of them. Fruit that grants the eater the knowledge of the difference between good and evil. Which is somehow a bad thing?).

Satan wasn't the one who ruined Job's life and murdered his family for a bet.

Even when presented as the enemy, they can't help but write Lucifer as the good guy. I'll take enlightenment over bullshit threats of eternal damnation by a self described "jealous god" every day of the week.
