I thought Yandex was blacklisted by a lot of countries?

The world doesn’t need another politicized search engine.

Well for someone like me from a non-western country, America and Russia are not very different. If I should be concerned about the 2% of Kagi subscription, then I would actually have to be concerned anout the 100%, and hence cancel it.

The narrative of good Western countries vs bad Russia (and nowadays China) is just pure comedy and completely absurd to me. It is just a moral high ground which exist only in the imagination of westerners.

Its only 2% mercury in your food, don't worry that its a deadly neurological poison. 98% of the food is just regular ingredients. There's just no way that mercury is going to do you any harm over any sort of length of time.

    Your logic is flawed.

    It isn’t.

    2% Mercury, sure.

But that doesn’t mean the other 98% is good. A decent chunk of that 98% could be bombing schools in Iran, for example. Or funding a genocide in Gaza.

Russia bad, yes. USA bad, also yes. UK bad, also yes. Germany bad, also yes. And so on.

Yea, it's a sucky situation. At least they're not actively investing into Yandex, it's just a source (like Google) for the search results. Though since it's a paid service, the most likely way to make em stop is to express your displeasure and vote with your wallet, and if enough people do that then it'll cost less to stop using Yandex than it does to ignore unhappy (potential) customers

I'm a long time Kagi subscriber, this is not just to criticize, I would like to have other people's opinions.

Financing Yandex never sat right with me.
Now with the recent attacks on Yandex servers and the perceived decrease in activity of far right accounts I'm even more wary about paying for Kagi. I'm otherwise very happy with the service provided, and it will be difficult not to rely on it anymore.

I'm still waiting for a clearer picture. It might be misinformation.

There are however reports that MAGA, Afd, Reform UK and Musk posts media presence and public engagement has dropped.

Customer for over a year now and I don’t love this, but I feel like Kagi sits at the intersection of private enough and high performing enough. I tried a lot of the other suggestions for engines before switching and Kagi gave the best results from my testing.

Have you tried Qwant? I started using it last spring and I've had no problems so far.

I tried it just now and compared the same search terms on Kagi and Qwant.

Kagi gave me what I was looking for as the top result (technical documentation)

Qwant gave me an ad as the top result and an AI summary as the next result. Only after both of those did I get the result I wanted (below the fold).

I’d rather just pay for a search engine that I don’t have to install additional stuff to fix.

Just cancelled my subscription and then deployed a Degoog container. Let's see how it goes...
