One Nation's billionaire backer Gina Rinehart allegedly attempted to help recruit a sitting federal Liberal MP at one of her holiday homes.

The real issue is that candidates can be voted in, switch to become independent, or to another party, and take the seat with them. This has already happened, but has the potential to become another major flaw in the system.

The main difference between a liberal and a one nation member is that one of them keeps their white hood hidden away.

The sooner people realise that Gina Rinehart isn't the only one in the ruling class doing this, the better.

Politics is influenced by the wealthy, and always will be, while capitalism continues.

Most politically-engaged people would be aware of that, otherwise there would not be as much noise as there is on donations to the the two major parties by corporate bodies, for example.

The difference here, imo, is that the money and other 'help' given by Rinehart to the PHONey party seriously threatens our already less-than-perfect democracy and the stability of our country. This money given to the Labs or the LIbs is bad enough but given to a group of would-be authoritarian, mostly ill-equipped Trumpian copycats who are financially on the dodgy side makes our political system all the poorer.
