“The reason is not that people are Luddites . . . it’s much like the protests against the masks in Covid. It has become a political symbol,” ~ Vik Bajaj, co-chief executive of the Jeff Bezos-backed AI start-up Prometheus.

Fuck off Vik, take bezos with you.

I guess amd will follow then

Title is a bit click-baity though, since the 5090 is a silly card for most users.

"he most significant example is expected to be for SKUs based on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 DV2, which will see an increase of up to 3,300 RMB, translating to nearly $500. Even entry-level GPUs are not exempt, as the GeForce RTX 5060 is expected to see around a $30 price increase on existing models."

*Tomorrow it will be google and the day after that it will be facebook, instagram, and twitter, and the zombies who use those things will happily oblige.

The ID trash is already used in Australia to block under 16s from social media (although apparently it doesn't stop most of them)

According to the headline, this is about chatgpt, I care about it and its users burning in hell, if that helps. They are not victims, and deserve no defense, it is a corrupt industry, owned by the worst people.

"Canada, the United States, the European Union and more than a dozen allies pledged in a joint statement Wednesday to tackle excess global production capacity of electric vehicles, batteries and solar panels, an issue Washington has blamed on China."

"H5 bird flu is now spreading through Australia's free-living animals. Since the first confirmed Australian detections in June 2026, cases have been recorded across several states and territories. By September, the Australian Government had recorded 652 positive H5 bird flu events in free-living animals and more than 51,000 hotline reports. Cases have included greater crested terns found at Sydney beaches.

The public discussion has mostly framed bird flu as a biosecurity problem: how to detect it, contain it and protect animal agriculture. That framing is incomplete. Bird flu is not simply a disease of free-living birds. It is a disease shaped, intensified and spread by human use of animals.

Free-living birds and other animals are not the cause of this crisis. They are among its victims."

"Traditional owners of K'gari, formerly Fraser Island, say they are hoping to work with the Mcmurican company buying the island's largest hotel.

Kingfisher Bay Resort, which has 269 rooms, villas and holiday houses, is one of about 15 tourism operations being sold by Kelsian Group to tourism company Journey Beyond.

Private equity firm Crestview Partners, based in the United States, owns Journey Beyond and already operates several high-profile tourism sites, including the Ghan and Indian Pacific railways, along with the Ayers Rock Resort.

The $145.8 million cash sale pays for Kelsian's tourism portfolio, which also includes K'gari Beach Resort and the K'gari Explorer tour operation.

Sydney Harbour's Captain Cook Cruises, along with Kelsian's ferry and coach services, also form part of the deal.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) approved the sale in a determination last week, finding the deal was unlikely to affect competition in any market."

"Millions of Australians who switch on Samsung or LG smart TVs are susceptible to being fed populist right-wing news without choosing to watch it, in what experts believe is an opaque commercial deal between the Korean technology giants and Murdoch's media empire that pushes News24 content."

"Steam started blocking Australian users from viewing or buying 18+ rated games on September 9, 2026, unless they attach a valid credit card to their account. Valve’s rollout affects hundreds of mature-rated titles, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Doom Eternal, and it doesn’t matter whether the account is brand new or fifteen years old with a library full of paid-for adult games. Without a credit card on file, those store pages, search results, and even home-page recommendations simply disappear."

"The following text was submitted to the AUKUS Public Inquiry with the intention of highlighting the issue of the lack of free, prior and informed consent for the massive build-out of military installations on Indigenous lands associated with the AUKUS agreement and the United States Force Posture Initiatives.

The Hayes family have lived with the occupation of their Country, Kuyunba, by the Pine Gap military intelligence facility, for sixty years. They were not consulted, and never consented to the alienation of their lands and the installation of an offensive military facility on it.

The Hayes family plan to take their letter to Canberra, where Greens senator David Shoebridge has agreed to table it in the senate."
