I just finished Silo Season 3 Apple seems like the only one doing prestige TV anymore.
post
I'm watching The Muppet Show for the first time in my life and I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
Just finished the season finale for both Silo and For All Mankind.
Good sci-fi dramas
Silo is scary relevant with Musk and Thiel plotting.
I liked For All Mankind, but the Cold War era propaganda became a little much, especially with the Star City spinoff. I got enough of the chauvinist crap when I was a kid in the '80s.
I loved both of those.
I think I may have to check out Star City after the very end bit of For all Mankind to get the backstory on that even though most of the Russians tick me off.
It's tired Cold War propaganda.
I didn't really watch it with much seriousness in the politics, mainly just as (mainly) 2 sides being mutually antagonistic. Everything in the show requires enough suspension of disbelief, and I thought there were moments of portraying all the factions as jerks in their own right.
I kinda liked how the tech bros gave us a faction we all could hate after a while. 😁
Go watch Mr Inbetween if you're after some tight gunplay and a fun protagonist.
One of the best series, in the last 20 years.
Only breaks immersion a couple of times when the FX are obvious CG.
I need to try this again with subtitles. I had a hard time figuring out what anyone was saying, and the subtitles were not working at the time.
Star Trek Voyager. Hilariously I see I'm not alone in here.
The plan is to then move onto post-Voyager shows none of which I've watched at all (this is probably my third time through everything up to Voyager, though.) I started with TOS maybe three years ago? Taking my time.
Watching Star Trek: The Original Series for the first time since I was 17. RIP to the Salt Vampire.
Enjoying & Recommend:
- The Expanse (started Season 4): this is going to be one of my top 3 sci-fi shows for sure. Thank you to whoever recommended it here
- Lanterns: I watch this soon after a new episode comes out
- North of North: It's wholesome CBC content
- Futurama
Also watching:
- Orphan Black: I'm part way through season 2, but I haven't watched a new episode in a few days. I don't feel as motivated to watch now that the main mystery has been explained.
- Star Trek Strange New Worlds: Some of the recent themed episodes were forgettable
- It's always sunny in philidelphia
- president curtis
Recently enjoyed:
- Sterling Point
- Batman Caped Crusader
- Ghosts (US)
- Shoresy
new: ted lasso
old: star trek ds9
Lanterns.
It is great!
I'm enjoying this one. I want to see more DC content with this format.
I did not understand the very ending of the recent episode.

Why crash another car.
Just finished Season 4 of The Bear.
It's helping me work through some stuff.
Currently rewatching Community as many times as it takes until I'm no longer in my depressed state. Recently finished The Mentalist which ended up being really good. Someone else mentioned Silo which I think is an extremely good slow thriller. Severance, also by Apple TV is just an interestingly odd show that hooks you pretty quick.
Currently rewatching MASH because I am in one of those periods where I'm having trouble starting a new show and I love the nostalgia hit of the theme song transporting me to 1995 and it's Sunday afternoon and we just got home from church and Mom is pulling a roast out of the oven. Anyway, watch MASH. It's good.
They mailed in the last 5 years of MASH.
Disagree. That's some of the best of the series.
IDK why you're getting so much hate for liking MASH. It's my family's go to comfort show.
We've all moved away from home, but we all still watch and quote it
Watched episode 4 of Lanterns yesterday, i am really enjoying the show.
I have started my rewatch of The Addams Family (1964).
And I just watched the newest episode of Always Sunny. That may have been one of the best episodes in a while. I always love the episodes where everything that happens in the episode pisses off Dennis, especially when it is the gang confusing names and people.
Sticking with Strange New Worlds, though it's getting exhausting trying to scrape off the exact right amount of surface crap to see if the actual plot and characterization of this week's genre pastiche is actually decent. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
I also just started TOS s3, and Spock's Brain isn't that bad. The endless slog of flimsy backlot-filmed concepts in s2 was way worse.
Ted Lasso S4 is coming around, but that show deeply, deeply misses Bill Lawrence's voice. Too many actions are being driven by gag potential and sitcom tropes rather than arising out of character. Also, they let Michelle and the doctor off way too easy, but I'll say no more.
Lanterns continues to be pretty good. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre have really good chemistry.
Anime-wise, my kid introduced me to Bofuri and if she doesn't want to get back to it soon, I may watch it on my own. I do find it interesting how much fantasy manga and anime engages so directly with CRPG and TTRPG mechanics and tropes, or even (like Bofuri) just removes the curtain and sets it in a game.
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
It's kind of a fantasy action adventure soap opera. A great cleanser from today's overtly gritty crap. Cheap fun I barely have to pay attention to to enjoy.
Tried Spider-Noir last night.
I love Nic Cage as much as anyone, but he's too old for this role. Or, at least they shouldn't have tried to make him look younger with the bad hair dye job, an obviously-too-young ill-fated wife, etc. They should have leaned into his age and made it a bigger part of his character. "I'm getting too old for this shit." He should have gray hair, and he could have lost a daughter instead of a wife. I'd buy that his powers allow him to be more physically imposing than a typical 60-year-old might be. Making him younger was a mistake, because they didn't do it well.
Remember when Roger Moore quit playing Bond in part because the Bond girls were too young for him, and the studio wouldn't budge? He was 57 when he quit.
Other than that, I watched the whole first episode without skipping any parts, so that's a "recommended" from me.
Started watching the next generation of The Grand Tour, and i’m pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure if these three will ever be as good as Clarkson Hammond and May, but they are already better than all the versions of top gear after CHM. They picked three proper car nerds rather than celebrities.
Also, I'm enjoying President Curtis more than I thought I would. It's no Rick and Morty, but that's not a bad thing.
I'm currently watching Silo S03. It's a great show, but it was already recommended.
It depends what are you looking for.
- Good action story: Ling Cage (Chinese anime), Ore dake Level Up na Ken (anime), Death's Game (Korean TV show)
- Love story (chance to cry like a child): Hotel Del Luna (Korean TV show), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Korean TV show), Clannad (anime)
- Good laughs: Grand Blue (anime), Red Dwarf (British TV show)
- Something to fuck up your mind: Girl from Nowhere (Thai TV show), Steins;Gate (anime), 12 Monkeys (American TV show, NOT the movie)
"Are You Being Served - The Movie". No laugh-track made it seem weird/off but I still laughed out loud several times. Good old show,
Rewatching The Americans and Steven Universe, both great. I’ll probably watch Snowfall again next, before checking out that “snowfall story” that’s been getting pushed by FX.
