It makes me sad when I see people in community describing themselves as a "transwomen" instead of trans women.

It's a word made up by TERFs and other transphobes to differentiate between cis or as they would say,

'phobic language
"normal"
women, and transgender women.

"Trans" is short for transgender, an adjective modifying the noun "women." Hence, it should be two words, trans women. Same as tall woman or short woman, not tallwoman or shortwoman.

i happily call myself transfem because i think it applies to many more people than "trans woman". you can be feminine without being a full woman, if you get what i mean.

Do you call yourself "a transfem," though? That's the usage OP is talking about. Regardless of how you add detail, I'd guess that "a trans person" is more comfortable than "a trans"

as a trans, i would find being referred to as a trans kinda funny coming from a trans. it would not be funny coming from a cis.

Waow you're a trans?!? Me too! Though I prefer the more formal form, "an transgender."

Seriously trans people can call me anything up to and including the most vile possible slurs so long as its said with a friendly intonation. Cis people, not so much.
