I left reddit years ago, and am not familiar with the sub, but what's it about? Are you going to tell me that my craftsman c3 19.2volt batteries are to old, lol. Because I'm amazed every time I need to use them and they still charge and work for the small tasks I ask of them. I must have got them between 2006-2008 maybe?

To be honest, we don't have Craftsman in Europe. So just use what you have as long as it works.

  • Actually I bought I a 1/3 horsepower craftsman garage door opener for my father and helped him install it because my mother didn't trust him to do it when i was 16 (says a lot about my mother's trust of her husband) but that was more than 20 years ago now. Garage door has to be rated for 175mph (281kph) winds because they live in Florida for building codes. Never had an issue since.

Craftsman tools used to be great years ago, and sold by a company called sears "now bankrupt" but basically had a policy that was if you bought a wrench of x size and it broke, they would replace it without a receipt with the same or newer model they sell now. Then battery powered tools came out and they obviously had to change their policies, but still non electric tools was the same. 9mm socket, bring in the broken one, no questions

And you had a damn good chance of never needing to use their warranty. Their wrenches in particular were beast mode. My socket set was a gift from my grandparents back in 93 or 94, and every socket and both wrenches are perfect. Well, a little bit of grease in the grooves of the lettering, but they keep cranking along over the decades with no issues at all same with the standard wrenches I bought myself not long after.

I've hammered on the big socket wrench trying to break stubborn bolts back when I was too young to do the smart thing and work at it patiently. Didn't even dent the bugger, much less bend it.

My dad's screwdriver set is even older and other than the handles showing chips and dings, are fine.

Craftsman was the absolute most reliable brand back before the company got gutted.
