I like hearing socialist and communist viewpoints to pop my American echo chamber bubble. When all I hear in Florida is how communists crave the destruction of the US and the death of all its people and anyone who disagrees is labeled a communist, you're not going to have an educated stance on the matter.

I started my Fediverse journey excited to read their federated posts. I think it was signing up for Lemmy that I was forced to read more Marx than I'd read before, not to mention recently (re-)reading Animal Farm, and now I have more compassion for Marxists than I did before.

I'm gradually learning .ml doesn't federate with others to give a voice to Marxist(-Leninists) who want to interact with others civilly.

I once dared to mention liberals tend to agree soviet bloc housing was one of the things the USSR did right. I was dogpiled and eventually labeled a troll and banned for a while.

I once dared to say I didn't realize Xinnie the Pooh memes could be racist. I was dogpiled and eventually accused of being orientalist and a fascist and banned for a while.

Now any time I bump into an .ml, they check my mod log on .ml and go on a rant about how I'm a racist and a fascist, stating they have no need to read why I was accused of that because they're sure their mods/admins are above reproach. I certainly can't disprove an accusation that requires no evidence - no one can.

I figure either they're a community of people pretending to be Marxist-Leninist to make people have a bad opinion of Marxist-Leninists...

...or (Fediverse) Marxist-Leninists are yet another group of humans who employ bad faith tactics to attack anyone who isn't them for funsies.

So they earn quite a bit of hate from the rest of the Fediverse and weaken most people's opinions of Marxist-Leninists; they've certainly eroded mine.

dared to say I didn't realize Xinnie the Pooh memes could be racist.

I have never heard this called racist. If they are claiming that merely because the cartoon bear is yellow then I would say they are more racist for making such a comparison...

That's the short version, yes. Here's what's left of the full discussion:

    https://lemmy.world/post/48906428/24557933

Unfortunately they nuked the thread, potentially to obscure the evidence. I can't even tell exactly where the discussion was because of that, but that was the thread.

I was wrong, the thread wasn't nuked; I can't see it because since then I've blocked most of the participants for reasons not directly related to that thread (they are some of the bigger bad faith participants in that community/instance).

    The TL;DR of it:

Everyone there was dog-piling someone for posting a Xinnie the Pooh meme for being racist.

I asked how that could be racist. (many downvotes)

I got dogpiled by a bunch of people who explained that because Winnie the Pooh's skin is yellow, it's occidentalist (a word I learned that day) - some going so far as to say any criticism of China, the CCP, or Xi Xinping is rooted in racism. I explained why I didn't think any of that is automatically racist, but agreed it could be depending on intent. They said "being anti-communist and being racist tend to have much overlap." They did some poking and prodding and assuming as far as why I'm anti-CCP, and then the thread devolved into Uighur genocide denial.

They then removed all my comments and banned me.

If I was in a room with Hitler and Marx and I had a gun with two bullets, I’d shoot Marx twice.

Yeah, anti-communists tend to love hitler, you don't have to repeat yourself so much.

All Hitler-lovers hate communism, but not all communism-haters love Hitler.

Depending on definition, you could say I "hate communism" (I hate violent authoritarian communism e.g. Leninism, Stalinism, and Maoism, but not Marxism), and I definitely hate Hitler.

Yeah you can definitely do the physical act of saying that you love nazi propaganda while disavowing hitler. It doesn't make your position logical nor does it make you seem like less of a nazi.

    ... the fuck?

This some kinda silly obvious and intentional straw-man or are you going to follow it up with some kind of explanation?

Sure, the simplest explanation is that if you think Stalin was unelected or had unlimited power, or that Mao was a dictator for whom everyone contemporary to him unquestioningly followed, you fell for nazi propaganda. Stagnation breeds fascism, and when nazis cannot win, they will settle for stagnation; the easiest way to foster stagnation is to say that the extreme left and extreme right are the same, so we should pick a third way, a reasonable, moderate, centrist approach, that just so happens to set up economic and social tensions that can easily ferment into and have clever nazis foment fascism.

The Red Scare, which is what most of you tend to base your propagandized version of history off of without even realizing it, had exactly one purpose. Protect capitalism, and foment fascism. It has done immeasurable harm in the US especially, where it is responsible for more deaths directly than the totality of all wars fought by the US on every side combined, but more harm has been done to the minds of those that will repeat the premise of this propaganda, the core ideas, as if they were their own conclusions after reasonably and logically reviewing the 'evidence.'

To tie it from 'obvious the fascist CIA worked to take freedom and power away from the American populace on behalf of the capitalist class,' to 'the CIA are nazis;' one merely has to consider the timing of Operation Paperclip, and the nazi sympathizers in the US government that were against fighting the war from the start; many of whom curiously later either joined the agency or were a part of oversight committees on the agency.

And I said none of that nor do I believe any of it, so is it safe to say you're having a big fat juicy straw-man with the rest of your comment and I can skip it?

Is it also safe to say the implied attack on me that I love either that or Hitler is a pretty ridiculous way to enter this thread?

I don't know if this is a reading comprehension issue, a logic issue, or you're just arguing in bad faith but I'm growing tired of your game.

The term 'violent authoritarian communism' is an oxymoron and did not ever exist, it is an example of nazi propaganda. Just as the other things I listed, which are inherent to the beliefs that would be inferred from someone writing 'violent authoritarian communism.'

I'm sorry AI has rotted your brain past the point of basic English skills, but I hope you get better in the future comrade so that some day you may be smart enough to be a socialist.

Ah okay, then this discussion is over. Sorry to hear you've been brainwashed, but I doubt I can fix it today.

At a guess, you're probably one of those "No True Communism" types that believes when communism is hijacked by violent authoritarians it doesn't count.

That or you think the Holodomor, Stalin's Great Purge, and The Great Leap Forward were just myths.

I don't really care to find out which.
