I agree the NDP is in that position, or at least preparing to be there now.
To say there is any nuance which would actually make the LPC look better than the NDP is complete nonsense.
I wasn't comparing the LPC with the NDP directly as parties here, mostly the leaders. The party and leader to beat in Apr 2026 was the CPC and Poilievre. My point is that before anyone starts blaming would-be NDP voters in 2025, looking at the point-in-time context, Singh wasn't up to the task at hand at dealing with Trump which was top of mind, while Carney was. The 6-week free trial of Carney we got gave us the sense he would be a neolib 90s style liberal, so aside from the qualifiers in my last comment, people shouldn't be too surprised.
I also don't like when Carney licks USA boot but he did show some spine this one time in August when absolutely everybody thought the Canadian negotiating team was going to capitulate to some very bad terms. Overall, I find he speaks very well to the room, which is why I despise his crowd-pleasing "great again" rhetoric while visiting the USA, but like what he says in Europe. It is him being shifty and two-faced, but as far as world leaders go, being competent and aware would give him a passing grade. I will continue to complement the LPC when they do things I like, and criticize them and also complain to my local LPC MP when they do things I don't. There's a solid amount of each.
