Ok…so you actually understand that Singh and the NDP were really good about using coalition to make sure their voters got represented even without being the ones in power(rare, and good that you do). But see the problem is that Carney has actively weakened us at every turn.
What we need is a party willing to actually bolster the working class here at home, and that’s what the NDP aim for. They are the ones who will stand up against the culture that allows these foreign attacks to propogate. They are not stupid people, and their economics are well supported to show that the ROI on their spending makes it the most fiscally responsible option.
Carney, on the other hand, is selling us off to US private equity and handing our tax dollars over to foreign oil and gas companies. He’s attacking unions, essentially ignoring the housing crisis(well, besides at least an $8.7B handout to Ontario developers in the form of fee reduction), and bringing conservative MPs into his party. When the US first bombed Iran and killed all those school children he was there in less than 24 hours saying “we will support the US in this without condition”. He is a complete and utter bastard goblin and he wasn’t hiding it, either.
The LPC as a party is a whole other thing. Constantly doing the bare minimum to make sure they kept margainally ahead of the CPC is not anything to congratulate. In 2015 they got elected largely on the promise of updating our voting system and they scrapped the whole plan for being “too hard” after they realized that they would essentially never win again without being able to use FPTP to weaponize the fear of the CPC getting in power. It was so blazenly anti-democratic the party should have been obliterated at the next election AND YET. The NDP used ranked-choice for selecting Lewis, and it was great.
To say there is any nuance which would actually make the LPC look better than the NDP is complete nonsense.
