Stop pretending that the 75% of humans who are ascribe to some form of religion are all part of a death cult and none of them worth defending when they are attacked with blind hate.
You are conflating these numbers.
Using your numbers
42% says its important to them personally to read a form of bible (but we cannot even agree on which texts counts towards the definition of bible, not even Christians agree on that)
37% says its important but not essential to read the bible
There is going to be very strong overlap here, you cannot add these numbers up. Of course it would be weird to call yourself Christian and never touch any of there philosophical texts.
Only 39% (which is like the exact number of the protestant branch which yeah deserves pretty much all you are throwing out here) Claims the philosophy is a written by a magical being.
Its a big number but may i remind you that post-theism branches that rejected for example genesis, existed since before Protestant existed, before the roman church was founded.
They are still flow from the same philosophical source. Which is a handful of philosophical myths that describe the same story but also don’t agree with each-other. (At least one of them believed Jesus was a the human son of Joseph)
My first comment to you was to clarify that the bible and Christianity are an entire umbrella of different works, beliefs and ideas. You cannot pick one and claim it speaks for all of them. Not even the church agrees on it.
Like i said i have read multiple but you would not consider them bibles because they do not glorify death in any shape or form. The one i found most influential did not even mention the afterlife. It was just about a cool guy being trying to do what was right.
I don’t believe in magical thinking, i dont ascribe to doctorine in any shape or form. Whats is selfish about correctly Labeling meditation a form spiritually?
Is that a bad word now too? If this hate is directed at every word that has some vague link to historical dogma i have bad news. But this does feel like arguing sementics (which i admit to often get caught up with, but so do you)
I am not and have never defended a death cults, no one of the many people i know is in a death cult, and it certainly is not what the majority christians are about. Citing a bible that is not the one they read/believe in is not going to change that.
