Elon Musk is such an incel it hurts to comprehend.

I'm saying that that gif, without any further context, does not immediately scream abuse.

Because you, like Musk, dehumanized the child. But the child is human. That is my objection.

trying to avoid the mistakes my conservative "Christian" parents made

My south baptist parents think they're going to heaven for hitting my brothers and me. You really should know better than to pretend neglect is acceptable.

One of the common things they've all said is the kid will need time to just be a kid and learn and when they're busy monkeying around is a good time to do your hobbies and recharge.

In the gif, Musk's child is learning that video games are more important than he is.

You really need to grow up and actually step into the world and live a little instead of being a keyboard warrior if you think screaming and name calling someone actually asking for an explanation is healthy.

You really need to stop defending child abuse. I can't grow up, shitbags like you told people like my parents that abuse is fine actually.

Oh, okay, got it. Your entire argument is you were abused so you're now an expert even though you can't see through your own rage to spend a half second understand what others are actually saying. I'm done with this.

I genuinely mean this. I hope you find healing and can let go of the hatred because it seems like you still need to.

Thank you. Unfortunately, abuse has been normalized, hence the downvotes, yet no compelling counterarguments.

Children can't advocate for themselves. They need us to push back against the attitudes that lead to their needless suffering. It's largely thankless work, but very important.

Thanks. It's incredibly difficult when people like you are still actively enabling it. It's like being told to heal from a stab wound while the knife is still in.

To the downvoters: my boomer father was not as into video games as Musk. After coming home from work, my father would sit in the recliner and watch sitcoms on TV. Three's Company. Cheers. MASH. I have clear memories of lying on the carpet in the living room, staying quiet so he could enjoy his shows, because it was some of the only time I could spend with him.

As an adult with the benefit of hindsight, I can confidently assert that I was abused. There was physical abuse, there was mental and emotional abuse, and I was neglected, but in the socially acceptable way where everyone pretends that being a wage slave and choosing to have kids means that a person is entitled to mistreat those kids.

Do better, please. Children deserve better. Thank you.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell my closest friend who was also abused as a child and continues to struggle with it to this day.

You had a shit childhood. We all get it. It sucks and it shouldn't have happened and it shouldn't happen to any child but it does and it sucks and the world sucks for letting it happen. But it happened in the past. You can't continue letting the past control your present and your future. You have to take accountability for yourself and your own actions.

My father did the same thing as yours which is very common for his generation and specifically British men. Come home. Plop on couch. Watch TV. I played Lego on the carpet and watched what my father watched. That in and of itself was not child abuse.

This is why you're getting negative votes and responses.

If you have access to it, please consider therapy.

You can't continue letting the past control your present and your future. You have to take accountability for yourself and your own actions.

Listen carefully. I did not choose to be abused; in fact, I specifically requested not to. But it happened. It is physically a part of me. I can't pretend it away. Please stop blaming the victims.

That in and of itself was not child abuse.

Yes it was, and I'm sorry it happened to you. You deserved better.

This is why you're getting negative votes and responses.

Because people aren't using their brains. Because it's easier to continue normalizing abuse than to break the cycle.

If you have access to it, please consider therapy

My next appointment is tomorrow. This is my fifth therapist, none of the others have been a good fit.

Although you are not listening to reason, I can at least thank you for treating me like a human being. It matters a lot.

Thank you. 🥲 I went to school for web development because I wanted to make video games. I haven't made any games since my Flash days, but I do have an ad-free website where you can see more of my unhinged struggle, if anyone cares. No pressure. https://snoopsqueak.com/

I could fix the search bar any day, but I want to be careful to sanitize the input and I've been dealing with a lot, so I've been putting it off. I need to get another job before I run out of money.

Hey shitbag. The correct response is "I'm glad you are seeking help, please keep trying." I live in the bible belt. Education is a joke and everything is a scam.

Do you think I should have stayed with the therapist who suggested I normalize my parents' abusive qualities? That shit gets people killed.

The average person goes through 2-3 therapists when seeking help. And, guess what?

Others need four or five tries, particularly if they’re dealing with something specialized like trauma processing, eating disorders, or identity-related concerns where shared understanding matters more. Neither scenario means something is wrong with you. The search itself is a normal part of the process.

Fuck you for victim-blaming. Your ignorance is deadly.

Wow... This says a lot coming from you.

I've seen numerous conversations where you're the person being down voted and seemingly on the wrong side of things. I sometimes attribute it to you living up to the expectations of your display name.

I may not always agree with you, but today I've learned that you're at least a person that is able to be reasoned with.

    Get some help, seriously.

Putting the blame on me when I asked my parents not to hit me. Assuming I'm not getting help. Pretending that my anger is unjustified or that my arguments don't hold up.

If my arguments don't hold up, argue back with evidence. Don't just attack me. I was abused because people normalize the mistreatment of children. No one is holding my parents or other abusers like them accountable. If you knew the suffering you are enabling, you wouldn't do it.

Bro, when I found out someone in our Discord server was in my home country, I personally went to the cops to report her parents, and got told I watch too much sci-fi and to bring more details next time, and was laughed out of the station.

Then why are you telling me to get help? It sounds like you understand how bad it is, how much abuse has been normalized, how victims are erased and abusers are protected. Everyone should be calling out Musk's shitty behavior, not attacking me for doing so.

Because at the smallest disagreement, you are lumping strangers into the same category as your former abusers, going off, and instantly accusing them of being pro-child abuse, creating endless enemies, and making your life harder.

    This is caused by trauma.

You have done this repeatedly in more than one place. You are turning yourself into a meme needlessly.

Because at the smallest disagreement, you are lumping strangers into the same category as your former abusers, going off, and instantly accusing them of being pro-child abuse, creating endless enemies, and making your life harder.

Disagreement with reality is the problem. Stop pretending it's personal. I didn't choose my abuse. My parents chose to accept claims without evidence and chose to harm their children as a result.

Did you watch my video about my little brother getting arrested for threatening mass violence? It's not just me. He called it a "christ-damned promise."

    This is caused by trauma.

Don't use my trauma to deflect valid criticism, shitbag. All that does is enable this same trauma to happen to others, which is exactly what I am trying to prevent.

You have done this repeatedly in more than one place. You are turning yourself into a meme needlessly.

It's not needless. I need more people to be more reasonable. Otherwise, life is not worth living. We are being slaughtered and you're telling me not to fight back.

    Get out.

    Look at this comment thread.

Gif shows Musk neglecting his child.

    Commenter defends child abuse.

I call them out for it.

I get showered in downvotes and denial, enabling more child abuse.

    I'm not inflammatory. I didn't start this.

Commenter said that there are legitimate reasons to ignore a child.

Iirc, they also said that this is not what is happening here, and that Elon Musk is just a shitty father.

They are just trying to be smart by going "Uhm, well achthualy".

If this is you with a therapist then you either need to stop and actually listen to them (which you've shown here an extreme incapability of listening to others) and do the work, or you need a better therapist.

Not a bad idea, I'll try to remember next week. Today we set small but relevant goals, potentially attainable ones, like exercising more and eating healthier. I have an alcohol dependency because my parents abused me before I could even think. Everything is suffering and life has never been worth living. So it's difficult for me to commit to recovery.
