Honestly, I would fall into this trap. The federal agent genuinely sounds like she is a person having car trouble, this trap would work on me because I guess I too am a fundamentally decent person.

I keep hearing people speculating that, when the American regime changes, these DHS and CBP agents will be put on trial.

But I think we all know that's never going to happen. Best we can do is name, shame, and socially ostracize them.

    Yep, if history is any guide, Democrats, if they ever get back in power, will want to look forward, not back. They've done that with Nixon, Reagan, the GFC, torture, Trump's whole ass coup, ...

    It just means that the exact same characters will just try again.

    I picked it up rather quickly after moving here, and I didn't realize it til I was at a bar in Atlanta and said it twice as I was moving through a crowd and felt a tap on my shoulder, when I turned around she asked where in the Midwest I was from. 😅

    Depends on who it changes to. If a miracle happens and it’s somehow an actual progressive/left candidate and not just an establishment dem then it could happen. It’s just that, yknow, it depends on getting a progressive elected…

    Vote in the primaries and get a progressive candidate on the center stage so we have half a hope these fucks will face actual consequences

    Unfortunately the primaries are rigged, and it's legal. We know this because the DNC was sued after 2016 and admitted it in court.

    We're not getting a progressive anywhere near the presidency.

    Damn I didn’t know about that lawsuit. Apparently some Bernie supporters sued the DNC for rigging things in favor of Hillary:

    A pending order from the judge will determine whether the court sides with the DNC, which faced backlash after leaked emails showed CNN allegedly gave the Clinton campaign planned questions ahead of a debate between the former secretary of state, and Sanders, who quickly rose to prominence and popularity among liberals but failed to garner enough votes to secure the Democratic ticket.

    Sounds like they didn’t rig any votes, just didn’t give them a fair race. Which, that’s still bad, but workable. We should still vote in primaries; this just highlights the need to volunteer and make sure people know which candidate is truly the best, even when their own supposed “allies” are working against them

    That's some hair-splitting right there. They were quoted as saying it's their right to hold unfair primaries, in court, which to me is as good as an admission.

    But we know they're rigged. It's why superdelegates were invented, and why Bernie never had a chance despite being immensely more popular than Hillary.

    You're not getting a progressive because you aren't trying. You can't get enough people to win a popular vote once. DNC doesn't even need to rig anything, the only people who actually do political activism are those "establishment democrats".
    Progressives either don't do shit other than bitching on twitter, or there are so little of them so their effort is in vain. I don't know what is worse. You can say what you want how primaries are "rigged" because delegates don't do what you personally don't want them to do, but fact of the matter is, Bernie also lost the popular vote quite definitively.
    In the history of DNC, there was only one time when delegates didn't chose the same candidate as the people, and that was when Obama lost the popular vote to Clinton by almost 1%.

    Not only wrong, but willfully ignorant. Your point of view is ignoring so many basic facts, two of which are exceedingly important:

    1. You have no power whatsoever at the national level absent a billion-dollar fortune or membership in the Epstein Class.
    2. Our only power is local, and locally, progressives are winning, and it's not just Mamdani.

    Hell, look at my state: deep red Missouri. You probably haven't given it a second thought, but in 2024 we approved state amendments to mandate required paid sick leave, a $15 minimum wage, and legalizing abortion. Kansas City has passed two extensions of its streetcar line in recent years, which is amazing because KC is a car-centric town. (And the streetcar is free.) We even imprisoned a killer cop, one of the few places in the entire country to do so.

    In deep-red Missouri.

    The alternative explanation is that, on top of having to overcome billionaires, we have to deal with brain-dead partisan Democratic voters who think someone is 'electable' because they don't consume any info that isn't fed to them from their moronic, corporate-owned social media feeds or MSNBC, or they ignore how shitty a candidate is because that politician possesses a vagina.

    A: Obama won more votes unless you count Michigan, where he wasn’t on the ballot.

    The fact there was a mere 1% difference in the votes she received despite her getting an entire extra state compared to him shows how wildly popular he was. Ignoring that would have been choosing a different candidate than the people were choosing; they didn’t make some incredible decision that paid off because they know better than their voters, they just knew what would have happened if both their names had been on that ballot and knew which way the wind was blowing.

    It's deeply weird to me that you assumed I stan Clinton when I just point out this deeply funny statistic. The fact that you assumed I stan her might say something about your motivation and ideas than you care to admit.
    It even prevented you from understanding why I brought up this and what it means for the "everything is rigged, nothing we do matters, better not to do anything" side of this argument.

    Clinton being unable to gain more than a 1% lead on Obama despite having an entire extra state to count votes from is indeed deeply funny, but not for the reason you think it is.

    If you can’t make your point without trotting out a line aggrieved Clinton stans have been carrying around nearly 20 years, maybe you should stop doing that. Especially since it undermines the point you’re trying to make: the DNC choosing anyone other than Obama would have been an actual example of them putting their fingers on the scale.

    Or you could just stew about how good you are at communicating and how bad everyone else is at understanding, seems to be working well so far.

    We are in unprecedented territory, and it will require unprecedented solutions. Our poor past choices to kick the can down the road have brought us to here, and now we have to deal with the can, and we have to crush it.

    We can't just rely on the old patterns and strategies, we need new ones going forward. When you say that we'll only do what we always do, NOTHING, you tell those who are in charge that that's what we expect, and that's what we'll accept, even if we hate it. And thats what they'll do - NOTHING.

    We have to tell them in every possible way, that we expect JUSTICE. We expect these people to pay harshly for their treason and corruption, and we will accept nothing less. Elected Democrats are not our friends, they are our Warriors, and if they won't fight for us, they have to know that we will fire them, and perhaps even prosecute them, if they won't do their proper jobs. If you are too cowardly to stand up to MAGA, we'll bring in someone who will.

    So, No, they will not get away with anything. Those ICE Apes who murdered innocent Americans WILL spend the rest of their lives in jail, eventually. Just because they are evading justice at the moment doesn't mean they are in the clear. They know that as soon as things change in this country, and they will change, one way or another, they are going to prison. They will be sweating every election, they will be looking over their shoulders, knowing that one day they'll be arrested, and they'll never breathe free air again.

    Pam Bondi became AG citing how she was going to bring pedophiles to justice. Donald Trump himself said he was going to drain the swamp of Washingtonian corruption. People say a lot of things, especially in order to get elected.

    I'm glad you brought up the J6ers. While I was watching it happening, I wondered why the cops didn't just mow down those traitors with machines guns and baptize the Capitol steps in treasonous blood. So I was screaming for justice from the beginning.

    Right away, there were people claiming nothing would happen. Yet the FBI quickly put up a website with photos of the most violent traitors, much of it drawn from their own social media posts, because they were stupid enough to believe the same bullshit, that nothing would happen to them.

    But their families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. all dimed them out, and they started to get arrested. Then the naysayers said they never go to trial. Then they went to trial, and they said they'd never get real sentences, and they started to get sentenced to years in prison.

    Eventually, well over 1000 people were tried and sentenced, and many more were still in line, and still being sought. They cought a bunch on my area 2 or 3 years later, who were tried and sentenced.

    And the entire time these people were being sought, arrested, tried, and sentenced, there were people like you, hollering that these people would never see justice - as they were sitting in prison.

    Yeah, Trump pardoned them all, but not before they spent some time in prison. If you've ever spent a single day in jail, you'd know you'd never want to spend another one there. Most of these people were normal American citizens at one time, who drank the hypnosis juice and became wild MAGAs, and they were brought up to be intensely frightened of prison, as they should be. So spending even a few months in prison, especially since you didn't think you could ever count on a pardon, and believed you had years ahead of you, is going to leave a lasting mark on these people. The next time Trump demands they fight for him, I doubt many of these people will show up for round 2.

    But not a damn one with any real power, and that's the problem.

    Which is why I figure the only semblance of justice that will be had here will be social or civil, not criminal. I think we will see victims suing the agents who attacked them, or raped them, or otherwise brutalized them. There will be stories in the media about these monsters that will result in some flavors of social consequences.

    But I'd be shocked if any of them spend significant time in prison.

    100% Valid. While I take exception with your statement that NOBODY was punished, you are 100% correct that it was only the moronic foot soldiers that were punished, and ALL of the leaders got away.

    I was for applying the 14th Amendment/Section 3 to any MAGA who had amplified the proven Big Lie that the election was stolen. That would have tossed out nearly every Republican politician. But the cowardly Dems chose not to follow the Constitution that they are charged to protect. The MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries is old and tired, and it's time to give them the hook, and drag them offstage. They've done enough damage.

    But it's not over yet. The wheels of justice turn slowly, but they inexorable. They will never stop. Jack Smith's Insurrection and Stolen Documents cases are in hibernation, not dropped. He will re-activate them the moment Trump is out of office.

    So rather than believe that Trump has escaped justice, understand that in reality, HARSH justice is hanging over his head, and NOBODY is more aware of it, than he is.

    He'll get his, and so will the rest of them.
