I can't recommend duplicati, I had issues with restoring from it, I now use restic

This exists for windows although it has to run on WSL
Because I want Jellyfin to do better and people to be aware of its shortcomings so they either come and contribute to it to fix it, or at least so they can make informed choices before circlejerking around it. Alternatives are good. Critique is good. Indeed VLC and Kodi and straight up playing MKV files through a file explorer are also valid options. So is Jellyfin but with the damn caveats I pointed out and got downvoted for many times (cause Plex bad duhhh)
I have a lifetime Plex pass from ages ago when it was way less expensive. If I didn’t I’d rather figure out a way to pirate or crack it - because its clients don’t notoriously suck on every platform like JF’s and it doesn’t use several gigs of RAM when scanning a library. I personally don’t give two shits about the company or the people in it. I’m a pirate, I want the nice enough experience, not a quarterly fight with self provisioned or ACME’s SSL certs and 4 competing clients or a fucking tunnel VPN to let my mom stream Love Island.
When 400 people tell you to “just go use Jellyfin” and then it actually sucks ass because you don’t have 32GB of RAM on your fucking SATA box, it’s just annoying, but when you get shat on for pointing out why exactly it sucks so people don’t step on the same rake, that’s actually just rude. When they actively fail to mention any shortcomings that’s just shilling. All I’m saying is moderate expectations and consider the practical shortcomings of what is suggested, just like you do the egregious bullshit Plex is pulling with pricing, but like, also to everything else 🙄
Anyone using FXFF? Curious if it's any good
I am running most of my agents in https://git.jeena.net/jeena/agent-container but every now and then I want it to be able to fix something globally for me and be able to test it.
Be careful with old phone batteries if you're going to leave it somewhere plugged in for months
Maybe https://getcroc.com/ ?
+1 to beelink but be careful of sketchy resellers. Their website has a direct link to their actual 1st party Amazon storefront that can be tricky to pin down.
I have a fleet of 5 n100/n150 beelinks running k8s that works perfectly well for a super low power homelab. I also replaced the stock m.2 ssds with patriot low power ones but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze on that with current pricing.
You can go as easy as using termux, or as hard as using postmarketos. Plenty of guides online.
Is there a sort of guide for this? I have a cracked old phone i've been looking for a use for.
Make a syncthing directory for each person you want to share with. For only a few people it's really simple. I do this with a few different things. Each "share" can be setup with individuals or groups as you need.
I use sftpgo for file sharing with others
OpenCloud might be an option. I plan to give it a try sometime soon, but I haven’t yet, so I have no other useful info about it other than it exists and it’s for file sharing & collaboration.
Immich supports oidc, you should be able to do all auth (including totp) in your auth provider and that all works in the app. I use pocketid with mine and it works everywhere.
8 watts. That's Pi territory.
If you keep any of your backup files locally, you could use ST to sync them over to her.
But yea, sync is NOT backup (I realize you know, more of just like to say this whenever ST is mentioned, and I use ST extensively).
As a reminder, someone who is not the author of a project has no way to do a disclosure.
@zingo@sh.itjust.works it would be good to add [AIP] though.
Shucks, I was hoping we might get the survey results this week!
I meant on your own system, running the backup software, since it sounds like Duplicati isn't the best choice. Borg is a great backup program but it's made for Linux. Kopia is cross-platform.
Sorry, I don't have a go-to recommendation for the receiving end. In theory anything that can host WebDAV, SSH/SFTP, or an S3 endpoint would do the job.
I haven't used it but I heard a lot of good things about copyparty.
Also, I don't want to be that guy, but were you running Nextcloud in a container or bare metal? Nextcloud pissed me off too, but now I'm running NextcloudPi in an LXC and have had no issues so far.
Yeah, sync is not a backup.
Thanks, the plan is to give her a hard drive and USB enclosure. I'll check out SFTPGo, are there any docker apps that serve as an easy S3 bucket?
EDIT: SFTPGo looks great I just tested it out and it's very simple, thanks for the recommendation!
Docker so it should be OS-independent, right?
Also I'm not looking to upload I'm looking for the docker app my friend installs to receive my backups.
Any ideas what the product launch is for HA?
Not the new appletv, 16 mics ready for voice control.
I dont trust them either but currently feels better.
