FTFY.
Double oven in every bedroom and an AGA in the downstairs shitter.
It sounds like a successful build then, all in all! Did you go for 10 or 15 ovens?
Kevin loved it because we completed the build usng an experimental new kind of concrete made out of recycled hashbrowns, Bic pens, and human excrement. Sadly, Bic stopped manufacturing the model of pen we were using so we had to order and ship artisinal hand-carved pens from a trio of handicapped craftsmen based in Kandahar.
We originally had a budget of twenty-five thousand but, mostly because of the pens, we went over by seven and a half million. We funded that by selling a brick we owned in Kensington, as well as our family home.
Once the family home sold, we moved into a caravan temporarily, but we decided that needed doing up, so we moved into the back of a transit while we were renovating the caravan. To be honest, the transit was a bit of a dump, so we moved into a tent while we did that up. There wasn't room for all of us in the tent, so I moved into a flowerbed for the last eighteen years of the build.
Still, by not installing any doors, windows, or ventilation, we avoided the inevitable problems with glazing and, on the plus side, the house is entirely airtight so it is very energy effecient and hypoallergenic. We got a certificate.
Also, we had a divorce, my wife had cancer, my other wife left me, my other, other wife and I got married for a second time, I died, and we had two more children (each). None of the kids want to appear in the 'revisited' show.
How'd it go in the end? Did Kevin McCloud make an appearance? Did your partner get pregnant? How much over-budget were you? Did the high-tech glass from Estonia arrive?
Careful, an Italian could get violent over this
The two are not mutually exclusive.
Gonna make some!!
Spot on!
Read this is an old mycology book: Take a tiny nibble, wait 45 minutes, rinse and repeat with bigger bites.
Most shrooms are harmless or will just give you a bad stomach ache.
plus they had lots of kids back then, so you just follow the trail furthest away from the gravestones
Huh. Well cool. I guess my intuition would help a little if i ended up in that situation. But at the same time i’m bedridden by disability so I’d be the first to die ;)
Those still are the protocols for survival foraging!
To be fair it’s not like you have to actually straight up injest them to try. I’m sure ancient peoples had protocols.
Like first you touch and wait a couple hours. If nothing happens try rubbing on your skin and waiting a couple hours. If nothing happens rub it in your mouth and wait a couple hours. If nothing happens chew a tiny bit and spit it out and wait a couple hours etc.
It’s not foolproof obviously. But its a lot safer than seeing a new shroom and full on eating it.
That's Gordon Freeman
Dr Stone vibes, without the caveman weirdness -- I like it
I recommend the book "How to invent everything" by Ryan North. It's humor, an instruction manual for stranded time travelers who have to recreate civilization. It includes a section on testing food for edibility. https://www.howtoinventeverything.com/
If you look at a closeup, they aren't similar. But from a thumbnail, yes absolutely. I'm kind of tired seeing his face lol
Time to dance the Pride of Erin.
Seriously! Every. time.
now if only people would use this knowledge to avoid figuring it out again forthemselves
Am I alone in thinking the pic is Edward snowden like every time he comes up
I have no idea who that guy is... Why does he look so much like snowden to me 😅

that is true. normal sliced american cheese melts better than cheddar or other real cheese.
the cheap individually-wrapped 'singles' melt even easier.. like velveeta does.
Honestly all the cali cities have pretty diverse food options, it's just that the cities are known for certain foods. If you want a specific cuisine, chances are there's still a restaurant nearby for that, granted you live in the big cali cities.
LA imo is known for korean food in ktown and street tacos but also has a lot of organics and vegan options. There's also sawtelle and little tokyo with lots of Japanese food options. There's even a decent strip of greek, persian, turkish food options.
Irvine (and Westminster) is known for mostly viet food imo
SD has a lot of coastal dining and surf n turf options
SJ is also known for viet food and mexican food but also has a sizable portion of cantonese banquet style restaurants and japanese izakayas
SF has a lot of chinese food (cantonese, taiwanese, mainland) due to the chinatown and also lots of fishery based restaurants near the ports. Japantown there is also pretty sizable and includes a variety of japanese foods.
