I'm serious, it's a genuine life hack

(In an online debate and you get called out for moving the goalposts, but it happened to be about ghosts)
"Wasn't me, a ghost moved them!"

You don't have to admit you're wrong. Just say something funny and walk away

Nobody ever asks "if I'm deaf, then what does it sound like?" because EVERYONE already knows what it's like to not hear anything. Same for taste, for going numb, we all experience lapses in those senses

It's sight that seems to be the exception. No one who hasn't personally experienced blindness can actually imagine what blindness is like. Even as I roll my eyes to the left and say "me not being able to see what's on my right is what being blind is like" still doesn't satisfy me because, well, I just plain can't see that. And that's the point. My brain just can't comprehend my entire vision being like that. Eyesight is so incredibly mind boggling to think about losing, that it actually tests the limits of my imagination.

And this is why eyesight is truly the most important sense. We always see something, even if it's just darkness, there's never a time that our eyes aren't working hard to show us what's in front of us

I liked playing games on my gameboy, but long gone are the simple days of "insert cartridge, turn on, play". Even the 3DS is kinda bloaty and games dont really feel luke they were designed for the medium.

I liked playing games on my N64 and xbox, but now that I know about modding games it's hard to live with the QoL issues that I know could be fixed.

I liked playing games on my PC, but windows gets worse each generation and finally I had to switch to Linux, where even minor changes take hours. Some people love when their computer has a problem because it gives them something to do -- they get to fix it. I have enough to do, I'm just trying to play games.

I feel like I've been elbowed out of the past time. The user experience is so poor that I end up unhappier for trying. I guess I'll buy a dart board?

This seems dumb to me. When people said they saw a tweet you knew it was from Twitter - instant brand recognition. A "post" could be from anywhere. Throwing away that distinctive identification seems stupid to me.

Like you get stuck reaching, because the stretch feels good.

Any language. If there isn't a word, I feel like there should be one.

I'm not going to suggest any because mine would be bad and I don't want to bias your beautiful mind, dear reader.

They really need an option in-between normal and light sauce.

That's it, that's the whole post.

"Slowly lumber and lurch forward" might not be the greatest plan, but at least it's a plan! Anything more than "just sit there" is progress IMO.

There's apparently two options: either use keyword filter to block it all and be uninformed about what's happening or alternatively be absolutely firehosed by articles about them. I think I'll choose the former.

And yes, I see the irony in making yet another thread about them.

I've been getting away with this for many years, and would like to pass it on to you now. It's like an intrusive thought, but a fun one.

For instance when writing to a friend:

Make sure to save yourself some Halloween candy!

Take a moment to muse over the modification:

Make sure to save Yousef some Halloween candy!

Who is this Yousef and why does he get your friend's candy?? Take a moment to enjoy this incongruity, then send the original message. Congratulations, you've just had a moment of whimsy, and no one's the wiser.

You'll find there's no end to what these Yousefs get themselves involved in. May also work with variants of the name like Joseph, I haven't tried.

Okay. Enjoy!

Moose don't sound real (programming.dev)

Moose sound like they're an animal from a horror story, not like they're a real animal. "The deer became the size of grizzly bears and now charge at any humans who they see. Their charges are unstoppable by any method we possess. For centuries we have hunted deer, and now the deer want revenge. They demand blood."
