[PS5] A compatibility layer for Windows programs for the PS5, "Prospero-win", released as homebrew earlier this month

#PS5 #consolemods

A bit of an old news, but as I went through my RSS backlog, this one caught my attention and I thought it was worth sharing. =)

[Switch 2] GBAtemp's non-overly technical explanation of the recently-disclosed exploit

#switch2 #consolemods

The guy who disclosed the exploit made an explanation, but from what I checked of it, it got full on technical jargons and in-depth details pretty quickly, making it a hard read.

Talked with this guy. Seems legit. Also he knew what was my userland exploit (different with what he posted) So I will post it in github in few days.

Updating the Switch's SysNAND to a higher version than EmuNAND

Someone on GBAtemp asked if it's safe to do it, and since it's not an info I usually see being commented, thought I'd share, specially as the Switch's still supported by Nintendo.

#NintendoSwitch #consolemods

According to user SSmiles on the original thread:

Yeah it's perfectly fine, my sysnand is on latest firmware and my emunand is on 19.0.1. You can just update your sysnand the Nintendo official way or through daybreak. Just make sure hekate is updated though.

PSBox: a homebrew for running Xbox Cloud Gaming on the PS5

Really amusing to see all the progress on #consolemods (and #emulation) regarding the #PS5 after Sony's blunders and the #PSBlackout. 🤭

Hey gang, my family and I have been playing on hacked Ds's, mainly to play gen1-7 Pokemon all the way through. But with us using ROMs, everything is digital and I really long for that game cart era tactile feel of plug and play.

Is there a way to use the old flash carts as stand alone game carts? Like they just have 2gb SD card and one game each and when you plug them in they run from the game slot on the ds home screen?

About having an "up to date" mod on the PSP

Saw this post on Reddit and it got me thinking, the #PSP being as old as it is, and its #consolemods generally being quite old too, if the mod a console has is seemingly stable and the firmware is on 6.60/6.61, it should be as up to date as it needs to be, no? Unless I suppose the user wants to run some newer homebrew or plugin that demands a certain mod, though in such cases, I'd imagine the author of the mod will leave a warning, similar to what Vita homebrew devs usually do.

I shell swapped this originally turquoise Lite to black ExtremeRate one some time ago but I struggled loads with fitting SUPER5 screen into it without any gaps and ended up with a damaged LCD port due to trying to line up ribbon too many times. Fixing that motherboard is beyond my soldering skills and repair costs almost the same as a second hand Lite so I decided to buy some beat up and scratched yellow one to harvest shell and motherboard from. Screen snapped so easily into original shell that it could probably hold without any adhesive. Lesson learned on aftermarket shells, I guess. Quite happy how it turned out in the end. New looks heavily inspired by this guy:

Hey gang, working on a 360 corona 4GB and Band flashers are a pain in my area. I know there's pico flasher, is there any chance I can run it on a tiny instead of buying a pico? I really don't want to buy a tech piece I'll never use again.
