Absolutely. He's a compromised, AIPAC stooge. He's not going to lead the Democratic Party anywhere but a holding pattern to await the next loss of congressional majority.

I didn’t stay up for the election returns. I used to be pessimistic about the direction of the US. Now I’m pessimistic that the DNC will quash the new voices which have brought them success. It’s a substantially brighter pessimism, though.

I'll try to look up some organizations for environmental advocacy in BC (I don't know any currently) and hopefully get back to you with ideas, as I work around this sector for New York. DM me if you have any specific questions and I'll see what I can do!

Mid term election resulted in democratic party wins, majority in Senate and house.

Previously, Republicans had the majority and enabled Trump and his people.

Now, there is hope for checks and balances, for investigations and consequences.

But the system and people, the voters and political and press systems are still the same. OP cautions about a single win and chance not being persistent or indicative of a long tend.

One of the hallmarks of a healthy liberal democracy is discussion. Specifically respectful and reason-based public discourse. This discourse is categorized under the "Deliberative Principle of Democracy" in the V-Dem project. That project measures how healthy a democracy is.

So, using a quantitative approach called napkin math, the US is fucked.

Jesting aside, the V-Dem project is amazing. https://www.v-dem.net/about/v-dem-project/methodology/

I dont because I know im in the minority in my workplace so if I dont mention voting then one of those pricks might forget to vote and it would be a net positive in this world.

Otherwise if I mention it I have to listen to them talk about "those idiots in the DSA" who want to jail parents who dont transition their kids or whatever the fuck it is they've been told to believe nowadays.

I believe that's by design for voter suppression. Making community and communication with others near impossible for voting makes it harder for people to discuss and talk about who's the best and understanding it.

The stupider people are the more easier they are controlled and by having people not talk to each other the less they will learn.

Went on a trip to see my adoptive grandparents. It's a multigenerational household of them, their kids, and grandkids.

Thought I'd be in a for a bad time because I hated my hometown while growing up. If you weren't a part of the in-group, welp. You're done for lol. And the area is so small and limiting... But I came here for the people, and because I didn't want anymore regrets with not being close to family.

Ended up being a lot cozier than I thought. I was reminded of the bits of my childhood that were good. I reconnected with people I never thought I'd see again. And although I still think the area sucks, I still adore the people I got to know while growing up here. c:

(Hmm that sounds like a joking sentence, but I genuinely mean it lol. Would never recommend anyone to live here, and I always recommend that people leave. 💀)
