Well, I don't know about that "no bad publicity" thing... I get what you mean, and I've heard it said before, but I suppose it is subjective. I know that I'd never patronize any business that used a Deplorean to advertise. In fact I'd steer well clear of them and advise others to do the same, as well as actively avoid individuals who own them. MAGA went all in on them, as part of their identity and fealty to Trump and Musk, so that says a lot. The people who desire "negative attention" are not the sort of people I'd want to associate with either, whether for publicity or other reasons.

I wonder what the personality profile is like for people who think.."DAMN, I want one of those cause I think its so cool and I want to be seen in that shit."

He noticed. He whined on Twitter about it. Still, it will only be a short term loss most likely. With any luck, he'll be in jail within a few years (unlikely, but we can hope), and if we're really lucky, deported back to South Africa. Not going to hold my breath on any of that. There is a much better chance of him being struck by lightning, or his private jet crashing somewhere deep in the Pacific. Ah, what dreams may come!

In this case, I'd prefer to measure by the sum total of market value his companies have lost. So approx. 100 billion punches to the gut would suit just fine don'tcha think? Now, naturally we are not advocating for any sort of violence here.

Let's do some fun back of cig packet math though, because 100 billion is an incredibly large figure, and really, it's incomprehensible to those of us who don't deal with unimaginably large numbers regularly. To illustrate:

If said punches were given to the soft fleshy gut every 3 seconds, it would take around 9,500 years until 100 billion punches were reached. That's a practical eternity of glorious gut punches. Obviously, nobody lives for that long, punched forever or not, so we'd have to shorten the frequency (time) of punches to the gut, clearly. And because we're all about being fair-minded here, let's try to get this work done in, oh, I dunno... 30 years' time sounds reasonable.

To complete this glorious and noble task in just 30 years, punches would need to be delivered to the gut once every 9.47 milliseconds, which is about 105 body blows per second all in. But we're not quite done. If we divide this work up between the world's entire population, which is fair, so that everybody has a go, each person on earth could expect to land one gut punch every 2.5 years, for a total of 12 gut punches per person.

    Now you know! :)
