IDK what “diagetic” means. I’m not trying to devalue your experience but I’ve seen multiple classmates end up in psych wards so I think it’s important to temper the “more is always better” message wiyh a dose of caution.

Do miniseries count? I’m trying to make a list and IDK if the 1992 BBC Pride ans Predjudice would count.

I’m really surprised that no one listed Avatar the Last Airbender nor Dragonball Z yet.

I just finished Widow’s Bay and need to find a new show. WB had some cool moments and I laughed at least once an episode, but the pacing was painfully slow. At some point I felt trapped, like I’m 3-4 episodes in so I’m kinda committed to seeing how it ends but I’m not really enjoing it. It started to feel like a job. I was kinda mad at the friend who recommended it. The ending was kinda cool though.

I would like to see laws that force districts to be drawn in a fair way so that everyone gets fair representation. There has been a lot of research into how to make a fair map so it should be doable. This is not only the right thing to do but it is also the most stable scheme. If you try to push your advantage too far with gerrymandering, you have a chance to win more districts than you really deserve, but the margins are so close that when there is a swing against your party, you get destroyed. This is part of why the republicans do so exceptionally poorly this time.

Perfectly fine physically but mentally cooked is not a “technically correct” anyone should experience. I loooove psychedelics but encouraging unlimited dosing is irresponsible. 20 tabs at once can land you in an institution (the willingness to take 20 tabs does raise the question of whether someone was mentally well to begin with).

PSA if you have any history or family history of schizophrenia, please don’t mess with psychedelics.

Democrats gaining real ground since 2024 with college graduates and voters without degrees alike.

But measured against 2018, the last Democratic midterm wave, the party is still deep in the hole with working-class voters, and its coalition is more lopsided by class than ever.

Throughout this piece it keeps making a distinction between “working class” and “college educated” voters. Most of us, college educated or not, are working class. Did I miss the queue where they hand out titles, trusts or capital upon graduation? White collar work is still work. Well paid professionals still pay all the taxes. And many college grads are unable to secure well paying professional work.

The real class problem in the party is the donor class vs the voter class. It’s obvious that many in leadership will happily throw the voters under the bus, so long as it keeps the big doners happy

I’m so happy that Washington did the right thing on the income tax vote (looking at you California 😒). Too bad we won’t actually see a sell off of waterfront mansions.

I think it’s so obnoxious when I go into a little shop and nothing has a price tag. I hate it with the white hot passion of a thousand suns. Are you seriously gonna make me ask you about the price of every little thing I might consider purchasing? Or would you prefer that I bring a bunch of stuff to the register and then decide if I actually want it as you ring it up? And it honestly doesn’t matter if I can afford it (although the lack of clearly labeled prices are particularly rude to people who maybe can’t). No matter how much money I have I will never feel good about getting ripped off so the asking price will always be a factor.

I was recently in a local needlepoint supply store where they had nothing labeled. Needlepoint supplies vary wildly in price. You can get thread for a dollar or for $20. Canvases can cost 5 bucks or hundreds. From their website I saw that this store had needle minders (little decorative magnets to hold your needle when you take a break, they usually look like enamel pins but with magnets instead of the pin and clasp). Well they had $7 needle minders and $75 needle minders. So someone will wander in and see a cute 1 inch Snoopy magnet, think it’s a cute impulse purchase and then get hit with $75 + tax and have to either smile and go along with it or have to back out. It’s just a piss poor customer experience.
