Why Ubuntu though? For someone migrating from Windows I can recommend using an immutable distro like Bazzite/Silverblue/Kinoite (based on Fedora Atomic) or Opensuse Tumbleweed.

It also allows you to create multiple logins for family members (with their own mail adress), all tied to one account with no additional costs. You just pay a few cents for each GB of storage.

I had the same experience 4 years ago with nextcloud + collabora, both hosted in their own docker containers. Performance sucked and it constantly broke (without any update or change to the config).

That is exactly what I do. Except that I use Lutris for the better logging and debugging options. Just create an empty proton prefix ("bottle") and run the installer.exe. Sometimes you might need to install the visual c++ redistributables first (download and run the exe, then run installer.exe).

This. With Linux there are lots of ways to troubleshoot problems. With Windows it always comes back to reinstalling the software, drivers, updates, trying different settings desperately, reinstalling Windows.

You need something like Traefik which does https for the services.

They offer standard wireguard and openvpn configs. There is no need for a "Airvpn client" gui.

Same for me, I can see, hear, feel and even smell memories or fictional situations. For other people this is not possible, they do it differently.
