Git is the industry standard for software development, but I thasn’t been fully adopted in Debian packaging yet. Debian development is still based on uploading tarballs via FTP.

I believe that git-based workflows could enhance collaboration, transparency, and productivity for one of the world’s most vital open source projects. Increasing the use of salsa.debian.org, Debian's GitLab instance, would be a good step towards collaborative git usage.

Awesome to see Omarchy getting more visibility! Fireship’s vid spreading the Linux desktop to 500k+ viewers is huge!

I don't use this distro myself, but I still cheer for anything that helps motivate Windows users to make the switch.

If you are self-hosting MariaDB, upgrading to latest LTS version will make TLS much esier.

I have been browsing the following:

• https://openalternative.co/?sort=pageviews.desc
• https://alternativeto.net/feature/open-source/
• https://www.opensourcealternative.to/
• https://euroalternative.co/
• https://european-alternatives.eu/

Which one do you think open source minded people should primairly recommend?

This is nice for those tired of wrestling with TLS certs and CAs for your database

Next time I start a new web app development I might try MariaDB Cloud with "Serverless tier is free forever for experimenting and small development projects"

I tried to use the new PARSEC auth method in MariaDB 11.8 but ran into an error:

> CREATE USER 'app_user'@'%' IDENTIFIED VIA parsec USING PASSWORD('your_secure_password');
ERROR 1524 (HY000): Plugin 'parsec' is not loaded

Why isn't the plugin loaded by default?
