I am on a TNG marathon for the best Picard eps.

-Inner light

-Family

-Darmok

-Final mission

-Captain's holiday

-Chain of command

-Who watches the watchers

-Allegiance

-Drumhead

-Tapestry

And close it off with

-All good things

Taking suggestions for any other outstanding episodes focused on the best captain of the enterprise.

Family is such a great episode. Such a departure from the razzmatazz of BOBW. A moment to sit and reflect on what Picard went through. I love the symbolism of him falling back to earth. Plus we get a lil peek into Worfs backstory, and we get to watch Will Wheaton completely phone it in (still love it, he was a teen and had other things on his mind, no hate).

As a kid I really didn't like that episode, but now it's in my top 5 TNG EPS for sure. Patrick Stewart's performance is just top notch, as it always is. We lost a legend.

    You lucky so and so.

Always wish I had been able to make it down there. What a great memory of your grandfather too.

Here in town we have an amusement park that used to be licensed by Paramount and had a huge Star Trek component. One day when I was probably 10 or so my dad agreed to take me and I demanded I would wear my Star Fleet uniform, with custom Bedazzler pips (thanks to my sister). I have this great photo of me posing with some ferengi park cast members looking like an absolute little dork.

The best part of this memory is that my dad, who wasn't a huge Trek fan, took me because it meant so much to me. As a parent now I know that trying to support your kids in their weird obsessions can be both extremely boring but also very fulfilling. I really appreciate that he did that.

    Good!

I had friends who didn't even make it to 30. If the price of not dying young is watching all the things you loved become obscure then I'm okay with that. There's worse things than growing old.

Also, there's something really special about a young person discovering something from your golden age and finding it interesting. Some of the kids in my life are getting into retro computing and electronics and being able to share that with them is awesome. Plus you get to cop that whole "I was there Gandalf" vibe.

We got to live through some cool stuff. We're old and dusty but now we get to educate the youngings.

Talking NES: I mean you gotta give it up for Solstice, I find the game a snooze but that opening track is just balls to walls you can feel the heat rising off that poor NES sound chip as it cranks out the jams. Personally I really like Kickmaster, its my NES fave and the soundtrack is pretty good and evocative of the era. Kirby's Adventure is maybe the best wall to wall absolute jock jams in a game. I was playing it with my kids last night and the tunes are just iconic.

SNES: Super Mario World is very memorable. Lots of amazing iconic tracks there.

Genesis: Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (or 1 I guess) is also just amazing. But ECCO 1 and 2 are peak. So atmospheric.

Having a single battery and integrated running lights that are always present is convenient compared to having discrete lights on the frame that need seperate charging/replacement and need to be brought with you and stowed when not in use. At least that's been my experience. Less to charge, less to remember to bring.

Nicely done! I do something like this on my bike too, except it's just strips of neopixel RGB LEDs on the frame held in place with zip ties driven by a pi pico. As a result I can program different light modes (flash, solid, fade, rainbow party mode, fake police lights etc etc etc) and even turn signals.

Having a single battery means less to charge/replace. It all runs off a USB battery bank and lasts days. My lights also cannot be removed or stolen easily and even if you do what's the point it's just a strip of LEDs, it's all easily replaced even if they do. Having integrated bike lights seems more convenient for me and I don't have to worry about forgetting my lights when I go out after dark.

    From their discord announcements:

"Hi @everyone! Just a quick reminder that due to the current DRAM/eMMC shortage, there isn't any plans to continue producing more Linux devices in the near future. Whether production continues or not depends on the pricing situation for those components after mid 2027.

Devices like the PineNote and PineTab2 are currently estimated to run out of stock in three months time. Just pre-warning everyone in case people start asking when things are going to be in stock again.

Meanwhile, devices like the PineTime, PineVoice and Pinecil will continue production as usual!

As for the PineTime Pro, currently the demo firmware has basic drivers for the display, touch, motion, GPS, buttons, heat rate sensor (chip id only), battery charger, motor, microphone and the speaker. Though some issues do need to be ironed out first before a pilot batch begins production.

That's it for this post, sorry this is a bit of a bleak update, but in the meantime PineStore still have a great lineup of MCU powered devices which will continue to expand with more exciting devices.

Alrightttttt, have a great Monday! (or Tuesday, if you're up that early)"

Very sad news but just another sign of the times.
