@Danquebec @wezzzy The original post is on Pixelfed here: pixelfed.social/p/ajsadauskas/Pixelfed (basically a better Instagram on the Fediverse) supports people following hashtags, so I added some on.When you add the handle of a Lemmy group ( @fuckcars ) to a Pixelfed post, that post is added to the Lemmy group. In this case I did it, because photos from a new metro line in Southwest Sydney is likely to be of interest to at least some urbanist/anti-car folks in other cities on Lemmy.

@Tanoh @jellyfishhunter Usually, yes. But (at least last weekend) trains at the Bankstown metro station were terminating and then pulling out of the platform on the right. (You can see the crossover just ahead.)Which is how I managed to snap a picture from the front of the train of the tracks ahead while the train was on the tracks on the right-hand side.

@jellyfishhunter @ajsadauskas@pixelfed.social It's the front. If there's an emergency in a tunnel and the train has come to a complete stop, then passengers can escape through the front window instead of exiting through a side door. And there's various types of emergencies (fire, derailment, explosion) where it's likely to be safer for passengers near the ends of the train to exit through the front or rear window, rather than try to exit through a side door and potentially walk past a safety hazard.

@48954246 @alcoholicorn Bankstown is a suburb ~12 miles/19 km southwest of downtown Sydney. The line then continues under Sydney Harbour, and runs ~28 miles/45km northwest to Tallawong. It runs every ~4 minutes on peak, ~7–10 mins on weekends, the full length of the line.A trip from Bankstown to Tallawong costs A$5.79 (US$4.05). There's a daily fare cap covering all modes of transport (train, metro, bus, light rail, and ferry of A$19.30 on weekdays, A$9.65 on weekends, and A$50 per week.
