Hey just wanted to comment about the EMT rescue part:

US sold vehicles can have laminated side windows that don't shatter open, and it's been a huge educational issue for years because people are using traditional window breakers on them in emergency situations and the tool won't open them. It's only gotten worse since that article, as auto manufacturers are installing more laminated side windows to prevent ejection during a rollover event.

Might want to check if your vehicle has them. Best list I could find was from 2019.

I carried an LG phone with 4" screen for YEARS. Way beyond what was considered safe for Android. It just fit so well in the pocket. I kept expanding the storage with larger SD cards. Also replaced the battery, since it wasn't glued together.

As somebody who fell for a clearance Vizio TV, the option to "just not connect your TV to the internet" is not available for my Vizio.

The TV will randomly power itself on asking for an internet connection. It will interrupt other connected devices to start internet setup. It will refuse any HDMI-CEC controls until you retrieve the Vizio remote to cancel the setup process.

    AVOID VIZIO. full stop.

ESRB is not a government entity. It's a US game industry rating board.

As long as whoever you are trading to accepts that it is Japanese only, there should be no problems at all. My local game shops have a section for imports that people trade-in.

I'm going to try to get back into Final Fantasy X.

Only problem is... my file is 20 hours into the game. It just didn't click for me at the time. I stopped at where you have to dodge lightning.

It's been a few years since I dropped it and I want to avoid the 20 hours of replay, but also don't remember the previous story to resume. I tried the movie but it'd be 5.5 hours to catch back up (and it's dubbed). I also tried wikipedia but that was too concise.

I haven't found a good middleground to catch up yet.

Yeah, I completely avoided a large portion of the DS library because of the gimmicks. And unless you are directly referring to somebody's favorite game, most people agree the DS was flush with gimmicks.

I distinctly remember purchasing Star Fox Command, and really enjoying it... until I found out they removed the ability to fly through rings. You could only fly through a ring if you took your hands off the controls and scratched up your touchpad really fast. Mmm.... nah, that ain't for me. Probably why I adopted PSP so fast after loving the GB/GBC/GBA.

No UI other than MiSTer menu

PlayStation controller slots disabled by default

Memory card slots disabled by default

    Superdock can't boot PlayStation games

Doesn't have any documentation. Only a single youtube video.

    Support: "Join the Discord"

Why is this even PS1 shaped if it's just a MiSTer???

Am I the crazy one here? Should I have not expected it to be a drop-in replacement for my aging PSone?

    Hello c/cars

tl;dr: I'm looking for knowledge of a cheap simple car (with cheap parts) to break/fix/learn.

My apologies if this is semi-rambley. I've been forever stuck at "too afraid to break my daily driver" and only really feel comfortable changing the oil and refilling various fluids.

    I want to change that.

Problem is... I'm a hands-on type of learner. I need to break/fix something to really get the knowledge (and confidence) so I was thinking of getting a project car to work on and dispose of. Something I would be proud to repair over time but also not care if I miserably fail and have to get it scrapped. My neighbor highly recommended that I don't touch anything past the 90s, as the electrical systems in modern cars are apparently terrifying even to skilled mechanics, but I feel like the older the car gets the rarer (more expensive) the replacement parts would be. I want it to be as cheap and simple as possible. I'm only trying to learn... I'm not restoring a show car.

That's why I'm here. Do you have any suggestions at what I should look at?

I'm thinking something compact or subcompact just so I don't have to take up a huge portion of my garage storing the vehicle itself. (and yes, I realize there will be plenty of parts and tools involved). My neighbor recommended I look at various auctions to choose one of the totaled vehicles available at clearance pricing, which... seems a little extreme for me. I'd rather choose something neglected and go from there. I want to figure out how to replace a window by disassembling the door. Find out to plug a leak in the windshield washers lines. Replace the alternator and recharge a battery. Flush the brakes and change the rotors. Restore a headlight or brake light unit. Change the stereo. Fix a seatbelt. That kind of stuff.
