I was reading this first, then I saw your 8c/kWh.

according to data from U.S. Energy Information Administration, which shows Georgia’s rate at exactly 15 cents per kilowatt-hour as of May 2025.

Nationally, average residential rates range from 17 to 17.5 cents per kilowatt-hour, placing Georgia 22nd among U.S. states for electricity costs — a position that makes it moderately priced compared to the rest of the country.

I don't disagree with any of this. I will only add that seeking investment from around the world also puts global pressure on the US not to fuck with us. It was the promise of globalization and trade countries that depend on each other are less likely to attack each other. Canada unwittingly put too many eggs in the American basket, and is now trying change that.

Still, I agree with your point.

Perhaps a community of survivors and or allies has dialogue and insight they want to share publicly. "I wish the public were more aware about x". Dispelling common myths for example. Sharing public information from outside sources.

For example, I heard Darun Khalel's story (trigger warning) It was a powerful example of how even someone who did all the right things before during and after has to fight a system stacked against them. I came home and told my wife and daughter about this immediately and had another discussion about safety, trusting your instincts and what to do.

Edit: also the public forum could serve as a proving ground for vetting allies before inviting them to the next tier.

May I suggest considering what the community is supposed to be?

For example, an invite only safe space for survivors. Sharing is difficult, sharing trauma publicly perhaps more so. Should be private and invite only for survivors. Also make a mod team with governance that respects the community, up front, in writing.

If going for a forum where allies are allowed, consider the will of survivors. It's their forum. Let them decide who and what is or isn't shared, and whether open, invite or survivor invite only.

You can build 3 related communities if they choose. One for survivors, one for survivors and allies and one for survivors, allies and the public with different contributions and interactions.

They have some of the finest journalism in the world. CBC Ideas, The Nature of Things, Quirks and Quarks, Canada Reads, CBC Music, The Current, The Fith Estate, Cross Country Checkup, The National, Day6, CBC Sports for coverage of all our real atheletes and not Just US pro sports.

Then there is the production of shows like This Hour has 22 minutes, The Degrassi series, Schitts Creek, Heartland, The Murdoch Mysteries, The Red Green Show, Anne with an E, Dragons Den, Kim's Convenience, Road to Avonlea, SCTV, and lots more.

Then there is the mandate for local and regional coverage the privates won't touch or actively retreated from, let alone indigenous communities.

What you call sucking up to the liberals, I call defending Canada from Conservatives who would have all media funded by the rich as the only voice, then a US voice as they attempt to convert us into the 51st state.

And they did that because of loads of funding from those who understood the geopolitical power that comes from these tools and a willingness to accept massive spending and financial losses for decades, that normal investors wouldn't touch, e.g. The US government. DARPA, NSF, DOD... funding

E.g. The Internet, Google, Apple, Tesla etc...
