To clarify what happened with your earlier request, the default Lemmy UI is a bit weird when it comes to appointing someone as a mod. The UI for it only appears when clicking on a post or comment by the user in the community. Meanwhile, some alternative UIs like Photon let you add new mods directly. That's the method I prefer to use, since there is less back and forth. That is how I was able to add you both just now, without needing any more comments/posts.
