I wonder how they'll feel once Mosques and the Satanic Temples start doing that.

Unfortunately we've seen over and over again that they are very narrow in what they accept as protected religious belief. Because they don't really care about freedom or the first amendment, just coercing their particular beliefs on others

“Bona fide communications internal to a house of worship, between the house of worship and its congregation, in connection with religious services, do neither of those things, any more than does a family discussion concerning candidates,”

So... can I register my family as a nonprofit?

This could actually backfire because the Evangelicals were already doing this. Perhaps the more liberal churches, although dwindling with membership, which had refrained will feel free to badmouth Trump using his name.

Time to start a church. One that actually performs charity.

Is it bad that I had already assumed that this was happening all along? I feel like evangelical megachurches and politics have been joined at the hip for a while now. I guess a formal endorsement is a different thing than just complaining about who is/isn't in power, but still...

"Next Sunday we will be moving away from the typical bread and wine, in favor of our new sacraments, hunks of Big Mac and Diet Coke."

Just what America needs, more religious hate. This can and only will end in churches denouncing other churches and dividing the population further.

We already have churches going full support for christo-fascism asking politicians to kill all the gay people. Instead of labeling a group calling for the murders of people within our society domestic terrorists as they are.. the IRS leans into endorsing domestic terrorism.

I thought Kennedy promoting Avian Flu was the dumbest thing I could hear for awhile. Nope, we are full fledge surrounded by some of the dumbest people that have ever walked this earth apparently.

Who bets we get "christians" attacking mosques in New York even when the mosque hasn't endorsed anyone?

    Fucking A man.

I watched that "Bad Faith" documentary recently and yes fucking tax the shit out of them. Especially if they are making enough to buy up land and planes. The one thing their Christ got mad about in their Bible was the one thing they decided to build their hate movement around. I guess he got mad at a fig tree too, but not as mad as money in the temple.

In its court filing, the IRS said endorsing candidates neither constituted taking part or intervening in a political campaign, as the agency’s code currently describes.

Do words even have meaning anymore?

“Bona fide communications internal to a house of worship, between the house of worship and its congregation, in connection with religious services, do neither of those things, any more than does a family discussion concerning candidates,” the agency wrote.

    A family is not a 501(c)(3).

Lots of things might count as churches.
