I'm wondering if this will actually help cement this story. Wouldn't the defense (the journalists) be able to obtain all kinds of new data through discovery procedures they wouldn't have had access to otherwise?

There was 9, NINE corroborating witnesses to this story. It takes two to confirm a story, three makes for an iron clad confirmation. Nine is a fucking mutiny.
This is going to be hilarious to see play out.
Unless, of course it would turn out that the justice system is corrupt.
This is going to get shut down... right? My understanding is The Atlantic didn't say Patel is an alcoholic, AWOL, and bad at his job. They just interviewed several people who reported that. And even if it was all false, the fact that multiple sources believe that about the FBI Director is concerning, and absolutely news.
He's wildly overestimated how valuable his reputation is. Even if this bullshit claim is upheld, $2.50 seems more reasonable.
Is he upset that they said those things? Or upset that his boss hasn't had an original thought in 20 years, is going to see this and fire him because they said be was bad at his job?
The trump school of thought is always on offense. To not launch a frivolous lawsuit would be a sign of weakness.
Unless you know with absolute certainty that Discovery would fuck you.
Like Trump and avoiding lawsuits in any way related to Epstein.
I'd file a motion for a Rule 35 evaluation. Have a doctor do an etg, peth and liver enzyme screen immediately.
This should be really easy to win, take a PETH test administered by an impartial party, show that you are clean and get paid.
That would only indicate what amount of drinking he has been doing over the last 4 weeks. (iigic) Doesnt touch any of the other claims, and he has been director for a longer than 4 weeks.
Also if the director of the FBI (even a shit one like this numpkin) cant cheat a drug/alcohol test than dismantle the whole org anyway.
I mean, id probably be ok with them being dismantled anyway... but they do serve a couple important functions. I think.
