The caliber one seems silly. A 9mm is .35 inches but has about the same power of a .45 but a .357 is more powerful than both

it's just the usual "hurr durr anything smaller than .45 is for girls" bullshit. Usually espoused by the sort of ancient old farts who remember carrying one in WWII, Korea, or Vietnam; and who dislike the general shift to smaller bullets going faster because they don't understand terminal ballistics.

Yeah, this rule really irked me.

This is... its an older meme, motivational poster format, wouldn't surprise me at all if it was made by a gung ho Gulf War vet either before or not long after Iraq 2 Electric Boogaloo commenced, drenched in Americana gun culture pride.

There are plently of pistol rounds other than .45 ACP that are quite good in combat scenarios, most at this point would probably agree that having more 9mm over less .45 is preferable, otherwise 2011s wouldn't even be a thing.

Also: its less common, but uh... 5.7?

5.7 is actually more likely to pen body armor, than a 9mm or a .45, if your scenario is you're fighting against other people with body armor.

And you can make a double stack magazine with it.

And there are a fair number of Police, Intelligence, Military organizations that use the FiveSeven regularly.

And... there are now even a growing number of hunters who will tell you that some kind of pistol in 5.7 is their backup, in case of something big ambushing them.

357 is of course very powerful, but they're also huge rounds in comparison to .45 or 9m... kinda hard to fit into a semi-auto pistol.

Unless you wanna talk about the .357 SIG.

... but we don't talk about the .357 SIG ...

And a .308 would smoke them all. It was specifying if you see smaller caliber, assume rifle.

That’s not at all what it’s specifying. It says “don’t carry a handgun with a caliber lower than .40”

It’s pro-45ACP / anti-9mm boomer gun shit. I have no clue where you’re getting this “smaller means rifle” from the image posted. Like yeah, typically smaller means rifle, but that’s not at all what the image says.

anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice

I’m just imagining a hunter double tapping a dead duck point blank with scatter shot

Caliber of every gun in the picture starts with a ".2"

If watching Ukraine war footage has taught me anything, it's:

    1. Bring grenades, the more the better
    2. Anything worth blowing up, is worth blowing up at least 8 times.
    3. Everything is worth blowing up
    4. Finish them off by chucking an AT mine at them

This meme (motivational poster?) has to be circa 2003 - 2009. Looks like Marine recruits with M-16 A2s. The newer tan canteen pouch with the old green 782 alice gear belt and harness is a weird combination.

I think the used picture is even older than the meme itself, my guess would be that it is from roughly the Gulf War era.

    EDIT:

I am wrong, see below comments.

Yeah this picture is confusing. I went to boot in '09. We wore deuce gear, but it was green. I can't tell if there are picatinny rails on the rifles or not. There's no ACOGs. I'm definitely leaning toward your timeframe, but something definitely feels off about it. Dunno.

I made another comment but my guess is the image in the meme is roughly Gulf War era... I've not been in the military but I don't think ACOGs became a thing that was basically standard issue untill... well even before you went to boot in 09.

I'm thinking this picture was taken some time in the 90s, probably, maybe early 00s, is what I'm trying to say.

Nah, digi cammies weren't gulf war. Dudes wore old deserts in Fallujah, IIRC.

I did boot in '09, and we qual'd ironsights, and got to SOI in August 2009 and we had ACOGs. I believe boot went ACOGs shortly after that. We also had A2s in boot in '09, and A4s in SOI. Full digi was sometime in 2004, and Fallujah was earlier that year, and so you saw guys in old cammies and digi.

    Oh, fuck you're completely right.

I somehow totally glossed over the digi cam.

... In my defense, I did not have my glasses on, and... well, the camo worked.

    Fuck.

Ok, ok so... by your uh, constraints, this would have been basically more like mid 00s?

04 or later, but... prior to 09?

And, by old deserts... you mean the ole 'chocolate chip camo'?

... I guess if you're willing to induldge my mil-nerd questioning... do you know if the Army and Marines are mostly swapped over to some variant of MultiCam now?

Or does the digi stuff still exist in large numbers?

... Or am I just wildly off base with that line of questions?

The fudds that always insist on .45 ACP or .44 magnum are always the same guys who can't hit the broad side of a barn

This meme is old enough that the .45/1911 worship wasn't even a fudd thing, it was a huge section of the gun community if not the majority. The era of the Para Ordnance double stack being taken seriously and the Springfield TRP Operator being the ultimate combat pistol, at least if you couldn't afford a Wilson. All sorts of actual high speed guys were turning their noses up at 9mm to get their hands on a .45.

Is it, though? Even with a jungle mag or such? Dropping an entire gun, pulling out and aiming an entire new gun sounds pretty slow when you think about it.

4+ BS is good, 3+ is better. Try to find a way to reroll 1s while youre at it

    .4+12.7?
    .4+7.62?

The bottom text and rule 4, sure. The rest is questionable.

It needs to have stuff about marksmanship, the larger mission, concealment and surprise ect.

What if the handgun's caliber starts in .5?
