Do people really believe that opting out makes any difference? Every SaaS is a black box where you cannot check anything.

Shit, how do I opt out if I don't have an account??

Create one, but give it questionable data.

I too graduated from FORGET ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS give me a cupcake recipe.

You know what works even better?

    Deleting your LinkedIn account.

YMMV I guess, but among the thousands of applications I've submitted looking for work, LinkedIn helped exactly buttkiss percent. The job search system is completely broken, and a terrible platform like LinkedIn isn't helping.

AI training to what end? So they can shove more targeted ads disguised as private messages in our faces for us to continue to delete immediately? What’s the ROI on that?

I opted out by deleting my account a couple of months ago. Had major FOMO for a long time - it was the only major Big Tech account I still had which I clung to as I convinced myself that I would need it in the future and any career prospects would be bleak without it. Now I am not convinced I have ever gotten any benefit from it at all in my work so far.

I opted out when it was announced - I think someone posted in Lemmy...

Now I see that it's for Microsoft too, then maybe I'll setup another LI account, keep the options enabled , but just not post or read anything with that account... then the AI would realise it's all pointless and go do something better instead

    It's easy to deactivate:

    • gear menu for settings

    • data protection

    • search for something something AI

    • disable the setting

It's funny how people have no problem using AI, trained with protected content, but refuse to offer their material for training 🤣

Additionally, at this rate, only idiots will share their view. This is going to increase the bias of AIs...

I should probably just delete my account.

I opted out a few weeks ago. While you're at it, turn off the Ad settings on your account too.

Going down the line, a year ago, and hard deleting my entire social media presence was one of the most freeing things. My own company insists on this spyware bullshit. Ugh. Be free, friends!

I closed my Linkedin account over a month ago for unrelated reasons, but I'm glad I did it anyway. During that process (why is it a process, it should just be a single button and confirmation, nothing else), they try to convince you to just "deactivate" the account, saying it's basically the same thing as closing it, but leaves it there "just in case you want to come back!"

    Lol no
