Lemmy users are in an uproar because MAGA fascists spun up their own server.
Are they? No links for the uproar?
What is this maga instance?

I sorta hate defederation (outside of legal reasons). I want as a user to control this but blocking instances does not really work which is annoying.
You can always spin up your own server and control every aspect of federation, which is what I’ve done with atomicpoet.org.
@fediversenews @atomicpoet what server if you don’t mind me asking? I ask as an admin
@atomicpoet @fediversenews one of the biggest Lemmy instances is a tankie, Z-pushing MAGA communist one, what are we talking about?
@atomicpoet @fediversenews gotta agree with all the other comments on this post, please provide citations and info.
Just to clarify:
This post wasn’t written on Lemmy at all. The original came from Akkoma, then was cross-posted to Piefed.
So when I ask “First time seeing this?”, I’m not addressing Lemmy users specifically—it’s aimed at the Fediverse as a whole, where plenty of people still don’t realize far-right servers exist.
@atomicpoet @fediversenews imagine not being able to hear a different opinion and living inside an echo chamber. Dear lord there are some sickos out here.
The core of federation isn’t just freedom of speech—it’s also freedom of association. That means you can say whatever you like, but you’re not entitled to an audience. If I don’t want to associate with you, I won’t federate with you. Federation is a right, not a privilege.
That said, this is a formal warning to remain civil. If you choose not to, a ban will follow.
@atomicpoet @fediversenews Honestly, Lemmy was already pretty zionist from what I saw, the mods on the larger instances were shutting down palestine support which is why I left. Too many former reddit mods took the same positions on Lemmy.
Hi everyone, I’m locking this thread on Piefed because it’s clearly being brigaded by people from outside the community.
To our regular members: thank you for your thoughtful participation. If you’d like to continue the discussion in good faith, please join me on the original thread or message me directly.
For those brigading: please understand, it doesn’t matter if you personally don’t consider a term offensive. If I’ve said that I find it offensive and I’ve politely asked you in private not to use it, then the respectful thing to do is to not use it.
