While not part of this DCU, the man was an icon bringing one of Superman’s top villains to life.

He did such a wonderful job as Bernadette in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. For a 90s movie featuring a trans woman played by a cis man I was worried about it coming off badly when I first watched it, but it was anything but. He played Bernadette elegantly, with class & sass, & a real dimension of empathy.

I was browsing his Wikipedia page literally the other day. Man, what a great actor.

Just putting a upper bound on when the other day could have been, since they'd have probably updated his Wiki entry quickly.

Ah, yeah, sure. I wasn't entirely concerned with remembering exactly when I read the wiki page, hence the generic timeframe, but I'll check my browser history and let you know if you're that interested lol

I just learned that the Kinks Waterloo Sunset, "Terry and Julie" was Terrence Stamp and Julie Christie who were dating.

    Terry meets Julie

    Waterloo station

    Every Friday night

But I am so lazy, don't want to wander

I stay at home at night

    But I don't feel afraid

As long as I gaze on

    Waterloo sunset

    I am in paradise

Aww man. RIP Terence "General Zod" Stamp. What an underrated actor. He was also great in "The Limey"

My favourite performance of his was Toby Dammit. RIP

I fully expect to be in a weird film-geeky minority here: Teorema is a masterpiece. Most fuckable maybe-possibly-Christian god avatar to ever grace the silver screen.

I just watched Last Night in SoHo a couple nights ago, recognised him and looked him up on Wikipedia, and was happy to see he was still alive and kicking.

    Goddamnit, 2025 - we can’t have shit!

Fantastic at playing villains. Also, this is how I find out that they wanted to do a sequel to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - shame he left us before they could make it.
