I love to shit on Microsoft and their AI push, but I also think it looks more like a drop of water than sperm. That being said, their comment about how "the desktop has become a billboard" is extremely on point. Fuck copilot, fuck AI, fuck Microsoft

Well, since every modern tech logo looks like a butthole (https://velvetshark.com/ai-company-logos-that-look-like-buttholes), this is coherent

David and Catherine have such amazing chemistry. Probably my favorite series of NuWho

Too bad they changed the writer and ruined the series.

Oh yeah, sorry, I meant season. Season 4 with David and Katherine. Every episode landed (imo) and they bounced off each other like mad. And Donna not having a massive crush on the Doctor was also refreshing. "Too skinny", lol

Fully agree that the show quality has been spotty at best. Which writer/showrunner do you think started the decline? Moffat had a good run with Matt Smith (although I hate what he did with the Weeping Angels, for creative reasons. For that matter, Russell Davies wrote Love and Monsters and that one is definitely on my skip list.) I think Peter Capaldi got shafted tho. Such a waste of talent

Right up until people started remembering why they hated him in the first place.

Like, it's been 25 years and this dumb fuck still don't know how to mind his own damn business

In 2016, Microsoft launched the chatbot "Tay" through Twitter. That's it's profile picture. Within 16 hours, trolls (mostly 4chan probably) had conditioned her to the point that Microsoft had to shut her down. The bot praised Hitler and posted all sorts of other offensive, controversial Tweets.

Afterwards, a narrative was created that Microsoft "killed" Tay because they could not handle what the internet did to the "child" it had adopted. Thus taking her away from "us".

And since I just used the word "us" close to 4chan: No, never been, probably never will be. Just enjoying the chaos and drama of Microsoft taking a punch.

They called the idea nutty, even seedy, but the Copilot mascot turned out to be a seminal piece of marketing that spawned generations to follow. This was a huge release that left a lot of the more conservative viewers clutching their pearl necklaces. Cream of the crop. Busting once and for all the myth that Microsoft isn't a fertile place for breeding marketing innovation. Coming out of nowhere, a climactic moment in the 2025 AI summer. Truly a moment to refract on during the upcoming period. All the money they've splooged on AI is finally coming to fruition and not just blown off and swallowed. The success will surely rub off on the AI industry as a hole or at least jack up Microsoft shares with vigorous excitement. And other semen jokes.

Baldur Bjarnason has given his thoughts:

    I mean… yeah.

Also, between this and seeing tech types link glowingly to a crazypants “colonise the light cone by exploring latent space” type of delusional bullshit and I’m staring to worry that computers, as a concept, might not be salvageable after these clowns have run the show into the ground

colonise the light cone by exploring latent space

Can someone explain what this is referring to? I don't understand it.

references these two topics. I suspect the phrase itself in this case is a shitpost taking aim at some of the absurd bullshit TESCREALists come up with in their nonsensegabble, but ...... it is also the kind of nonsensegabble that some of them may unironically post

is it cynical that i find the idea of a "latent space" a bit goofy? may just be because i think data science is kind of a joke and much machine learning is "we threw shit at our model but don't know what a category error is"

like it's just dimensionality reduction with new vocab?

Strange, ever noticed how many of the genAI logos looked like an anus? https://velvetshark.com/ai-company-logos-that-look-like-buttholes. "Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action", what is dozens of times?

Please tell the multi-trillion dollar company I'm sorry I made fun of their AI slop mascot. Just because it's a milky white blob of fluid doesn't mean it looks like a blob of another kind of milky white liquid.

NGL, they might've been better off skating the edge of IP and managed it after a little fat blobule, like the Partners In Crime adipose here. Adipilot has that "atta boy" sound, and selling fat to dumbfuck Americans is their business model already, so: apropos on so many levels. 🤷🏽‍♂️

edit: yes, now I see the earlier comment. 🤪

remember, the actual design name is Liquid Ass

screenshot of youtube video pre-roll still showing the Liquid Glass themescreen with the play button obscuring the letters g and l
