To the complete surprise of absolutely no one with the cognitive capability to put a pair of pants on.

God, Trump is so excited about this too. Every time he talks about it I get this sinking feeling like he's going to order the US military to side with Russia over Europe and Ukraine.

At least now the US has a house and senate that might actually do their job and act as a check on unfettered executive power.

Or... they'll do the standard democrat thing, and be totally ineffective. Chuck'll write an angry letter, but still support the bullshit.

Yes, we are soon about to find out if the system is truly as completely rigged as I think it is. Only truly naive people would ever believe that shadow money and deep state corruption only lives on one side of the ballot. When the odds are as fully and completely stacked in your favor as they are in the return-on-investment you get from political corruption, it doesn't only just make sense to corrupt both sides, it would be absolutely blindingly stupid not to. Hedging your bets always pays off, and you win no matter what. It becomes impossible to lose. Which explains why nothing ever seems to change meaningfully. We get some theatrics and some token changes to maintain the illusion but nothing ever really changes, because picking the right party or the wrong party isn't actually your issue.

If the USA and Russia team up, it gets pretty precarious here in Canada. One to the south, one to the north, and if the USA grabs Greenland, to the east and west too.

This whole presidenture would be so hilarious is he couldn't do any damage to other people and our allies.

I bet Russians and Chinese laughing out loud how he is destroying the West.

I'm glad that EU stopped with trying to please him. That never worked.

Didn't Xi insult him to his face and he was too thick to realize it?

More of a "back the fuck up" thing:

"Donald Trump spent Thursday lavishing praise on Xi Jinping, while the Chinese leader used his visit to the White House to deliver a power move with a warning for America to stay in its lane.

In front of Trump, and for the second time in four months, Xi urged the two countries to avoid the so-called "Thucydides Trap"—the historical theory that tensions between a rising power and an established one can spiral into war."

China, at least, has to be thrilled. Trump ceded so many economic sectors to China. EVs, solar power, nuclear power, among others

Not only that, but his war on Iran pushed the world towards those technologies much faster than it otherwise would have

Trump only really gave Putin a bit more time to draw out his war on Ukraine

Yup, I’m sure China is over the moon. A lot of his decisions have basically just boiled down to “hand {soft power} directly to China.” Because the slimy sack doesn’t understand the concept of long-term planning and soft power. Hell, he doesn’t even understand quarterly business planning, because he bankrupts every business he gets his tiny mitts on.

Still not convinced that's not what he's doing on purpose. Thats what mob bosses would do around new York in the 70's and 80s. I think it was called a bust out. Just he's doing it with iran and russia.

Like he's just got the Iranians to go along with it, or some group or iranians, and in the end they and kushner in sauid arabia get the gulf, with all of the US bases destroyed like the sand nations want. And with the entire conversation getting turned in the media into being about israel all the fucking time, they managed to get domestic support to stop wanting to funding them, so Israel would be out if the picture. And then now they're just liquidating everything to the rich guys, with they're bullshit stock manipulation and scams.

European leaders have firmly rejected any attempt by the United States and Russia to reshape the continent’s security architecture without their involvement, following President Donald Trump’s suggestion that Washington could be nearing a sweeping agreement with Moscow extending beyond Ukraine to encompass all of Europe.

The remarks, made by Trump on Thursday, have raised fresh concerns among Washington’s European allies that the US administration could be moving towards a security arrangement that accommodates Russian President Vladimir Putin’s long-standing demands at the expense of European interests.

Sounds like there's no details and it's a refutation of the entire concept.

The initiative has immediately drawn objections from European officials, who insist that the continent’s security arrangements are already established and cannot be renegotiated over their heads.

What needs to be remembered with the pedotator (thanks stumu415@lemmy.zip, I love it) is that his handlers work for the largest arms manufacturing companies / country in the world. Destabilizing shit is profit. Glad to see more and more of the world not putting up with the crap.

Ditch 'NATO' (It's dead Jim) military spending requirements via % of GDP, Europe just needs enough the fend off a Russia that's mostly spent on Ukraine (which should be heartily supported) for a few years until Putin inevitably gets defenestrated.

Two years of un-neutered Trump was enough to finally break Pax Americana, I guess we're moving towards Pax Sino or whatever it gets called. Sure would be nice if the middle powers got together and headed that off. Much as I like the concept of the U.N. the veto powers hobble it as a true vehicle of international unity, maybe everyone should join the EU?

Here's hoping the Dems actually keep the cheeto clown tied up in serious litigation and red tape for the next two years and the demented fool doesn't get to release the nukes. Actually effective impeachment sure would be nice. Doesn't he look tired?
