Why limit this to phones? All devices we pay hard-earned money for should be fully owned and controlled by the purchaser. Consider the recent hubbub over someone taking control of their TV, for example.
Good text, agree 100%. A bit of a hassle to read on my phone, though, because I have it locked in portrait mode!
