On Tuesday, Alabama residents voted on Constitutional Amendment 3 to amend the state constitution by requiring public schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily and allow "student-led prayer." The measure officially passed on Wednesday, with 63 percent of the vote, according to The New York Times.

Only a matter of time before the satanic temple prayer gets recited in a school legally in Alabama 💯🔥

Most if not all public schools already recite the Pledge no matter how creepy it is, and student-led prayers are already legal. It’s teacher-led prayers that are banned.

If I understand correctly, there's something in the new law that requires prayers to be in "Judeo-Christian tradition." Whatever that means.

This makes the prayer time mandatory and students who choose to opt out can leave the room.

edit: There's nothing apparent in the language of the amendment that would require any particular style of prayer. Satanists rejoice.

Do atheist student leaders have a non-prayer, secular invocation?

My kid didn't pledge allegiance to a rogue, authoritarian regime when they were in school, and we aren't doing it now, as adults. This is so antichristian on every level. Lawsuits will be filed.

Also the evangelists support Israel so hard, but as Christians, could never claim right of return, as citizens of Israel. Only Jews and atheists are permitted to do that.

You miss the point of their support. They don't give the slightest fuck about Jews as people or Israel as a country. They just know Revelations said that the Rapture can't start until after the Jews return to the Holy Land, so they'll do whatever it takes to fulfill that condition. It is entirely selfish.

Nah, I didn't miss it, I simply think they believe nothing of the sort, but find it a convenient excuse to keep exploiting and abusing others. But they're still not welcome to settle in Israel, greater or not.

The Pledge of Allegence was a scam to sell flags to schools that was picked up by McCarthyites to brainwash kids.

Isn't the pledge of allegiance comes from an ad for a flag or something like this?

Par for the course for Alabama, the state where the sentence "Hey Mom, if we get married, can we stay brother and sister?" is perfectly normal, and the state ranked 43rd out of 50 in public education.

This stereotype is exactly as true as the idea that, in California, there are parents cutting penises off of their babies because they want to force them to be transgender. And it comes from the same place of tribalism and ignorance.

I'm not saying Alabama doesn't have problems. Obviously it does. But this weird, "hurr-durr they marry their sisters," thing is stupid and offensive.
