Not reading the article, didn’t internal documents come out revealing they were knowingly running scam ads? But they were also some of the most profitable because the more reports an ad/account got, the more Meta would charge them to run ads, effectively allowing it to continue as long as they got a bigger cut

The fact that something like Facebook exists without public oversight or control is absolutely insane .... if your national public rely heavily on one source for the majority of the information and communication, what do you think is going to happen? Is like saying that there is only one company that owns every newspaper across the country and they are allowed to self regulate themselves.

It's like Joseph Goebbels said about media and communications 'Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.'

Except this time, we've allowed multinational corporations at the keyboard to play the music that we all dance to

As someone that had an elderly mother that was scammed multiple times because of sinister bullshit like this, Facebook can’t burn to the ground fast enough, and fuckface Zuck needs to swing from the gallows.

Maybe facebook should be responsible for the monetary damages they create on society. + fines for negligence.

If I commit a 100.000 fraud, I'll go to jail for quite a while

Zucker commits 16 billion Doll in fraud, will he go to jail, and will he go to jail for a fee million years at least?

Of course not, they'll pay a "penaltiy" tax and that will be the end of it

Is Mark Cuban a good guy? Or just a less evil billionaire?

Just less evil. There is no way to ethically acquire that amount of money. Most people don't truly understand how much money $1 billion USD actually is. And the only way to achieve it is to exploit others, make money off of investing in the exploitation, etc.

But that's not how he got his billions, and he's not contributing anything back really, he's just accepting a little less profit than he could. A serial killer with human body part trophies in their basement doesn't suddenly become a good person if they save a cat from a tree.

He made a website that yahoo bought during the dot com boom for $5 billion.

Right, and yahoo exploited people to get that money. Are you saying that his work on that site was more of a contribution to society than the entire lifetimes of thousands of tech workers, a few of which probably actually designed and built the site?

Read his Wikipedia page. I think you’ll come to find he really is a rare good guy. No evidence I see of making his $$ off the backs of slave-wage labor.

Doesn't matter. There is no amount of work or contribution to society a single person could perform in a single lifetime that would be worth anywhere near $1 billion. Maybe it was another person or company who did the exploitation itself, but he knowingly profited from that.

He's victim of fake ads that impersonate him. Does he intend to sue Facebook and the ads creators? He has the means to hire a lawyer.

Facebook and Mark Z have no shame, and users don't care enough to leave, so speaking up is not enough to make Facebook behave.

For fucks sake the general public DOES NOT NEED social media.

Are normal people still on FB? I thought it would be all conservatives by now. If only conservatives are getting ripped off, then no harm done. I only care if actual humans are being harmed.
