some adamantly want that to change. One thing is its not really a benefit to women. As a matter of fact benefits from it go exclusively to men. Often its about women being to important as baby making machines. So feminists are not for only conscripting men. Granted on the left conscription in general is frowned upon and indeed so is war and the military.

  • Gender equity as a goal is not well-served by simply disenfranchising one to better match the existing disenfranchisement of the other. We should always seek to achieve better equity by improving the lives of those who are worse off. The draft is the rare situation in America in which men receive the short end of the stick; the solution to this inequity is not to impose the draft on women and nonbinary folks, which would hurt them and help no one. The solution is to eliminate the draft altogether.

"get out of my house" * pulls out a pepper spray *

Seriously though, the answer is anything from "don't care", "it's men's duty to protect our great country" and "fuck off with your fascists militia", every single person you ask would have different answer from British TERF to Azerbaijan anarcho-feminist

I wouldn't classify myself as a scholar of feminist thought, but one could take the position that patriarchy is detrimental for both men and women, and that this is an expression of that.

Men send men to war. It's patriarchal, and we're trying to dismantle the patriarchy.

How do people treat the fact that in all countries men receive benefits that women don’t?

Have you served, mate? Because if you are have I think you already know several reasons. If you haven't, fuck off with your ignorant bullshit.

That a no? Then leave that question to those with the experience to know. Or enlist and "do your own research."

Here's one: do you have any idea the prevalence of sexual assault for women in the military?

My drill sargents told a male trainee to sexually harass me at boot camp. The male drills and all the male trainees in that bunk would laugh at me at the end of the day bed checks. That's 60 men all in on the joke and doing nothing about it

I reckon by saying "in some countries women have their genitals mutilated, often by family members, by force, without anesthetic, just so they can't enjoy sexual pleasure, as that is reserved for men."

Men also face genital mutilation, but that is more often done right after birth in a medical setting. Still wrong, but not nearly as traumatic.

Or by saying that a female feminist volunteers for military service because she's no better than a man who was conscripted into it?

Why the hell is it seen as "not as traumatic"? Its arguably far more traumatic. They've just been born and now part of their dick is getting cut off without anaesthesia cuz lol they dont have feelings yet or they wont even remember it.

If youve experienced little else in life then theres massive pain from an immediate socially approved sexual assault right out the gate, its pretty fucking traumatic.

Women who say its not as bad as ours are no enemy bedfellows of patriarchy

Many avoid the question or go on the attack since they've declared any holistic conversation of gender rights an attack on women.

For example, ~70-75℅ of domestic abuse victims are female and ~25-30% of victims are male(yes, simplifying for genders), but feminists will ignore discussing care for male victims or a broader solution like education and rehabilitation centers for domestic abusers(mostly male) because they view either as an attack on female victims.

Which is understandable. Many feminists base their identity on "supporting women", not on supporting everyone or fixing society.
