🤣
The Dems don't have to slow anything down, shitty AI economics are already doing that.
They won't be getting that bailout they were hoping for though.
for state or local restrictions, they'll just build elsewhere. as far as nationwide--very unlikely that anything happens. controlling congress don't mean jack unless you also have the white house, or it's a super majority that can tell an 'uncooperative' president 'fuck you, we're overriding your vetoes'.
At this point they don't need to peel too many Republicans off to get 2/3rds. The big problem is any win they secure Trump will take credit for.
I would not be surprised if some Republicans in congress suddenly decide they don't want to go off the cliff with Trump and stop doing everything he says.
Made much the same comment earlier about impeachment. None of these people are stupid. They know damned well Trump's dying of dementia and can't be on camera too much longer. They also know that the death of the cult leader ends MAGA. I'm expecting defections here and there.

You just really need the local restrictions, after all the data center need to be somewhere. If you get a no from any place you try, it effectively stop you.
As nationwide, given how the US people thinks, I do not think that a "fuck the locals government, we override them" will fly.
What is supermajority in context of US politics? Simple majority in both houses of parliament?
60% required to override a veto from the executive branch.
No, 60% is the filibuster threshold in the Senate.
A "veto proof majority" requires two thirds of the members of House and Senate
A bill or joint resolution that has been vetoed by the President can become law if two-thirds of the Members voting in the House and the Senate each agree to pass it over the President's objection.
The 👏 stock 👏 market 👏 is 👏 not 👏 the 👏 economy.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest...
Sounds like yet more proof stock prices should never influence public policy
Every eye is on Mississippi right now. Gonna be a close one.
Bear in mind that besides just Democrats winning, the market reaction could be related to the fact that there were many ballot measures on limiting or putting moratoriums on data centers across the country, and it looks like all but one have passed. The message is clear that they're going to be met with huge resistance to building them pretty much everywhere.

I'd almost put money on the fact the orange turd and his ilk are shorting some stocks and about to sell a LOT of it off kicking off a sharp dive
Well, so much for that! The Dow is up over 1100 this morning (as of 10:20 ET)
